WINA
Oral
Liquid
Paraffin
contains
liquid paraffin which acts as a lubricant
and penetrates and softens the stools.
BEFORE YOU USE WINA ORAL LIQUID

should not be used in children under
3 years of age.

Liquid
Paraffin

not

used
when
abdominal
pain,
nausea,
or
vomiting is present.

Some medicines and WINA Oral Liquid
Paraffin may interfere with each other.
They may be affected by WINA Oral
Liquid Paraffin or may affect how well it
works.
There
may

interference
with
the
absorption of fat soluble vitamins.

Always use WINA Oral Liquid Paraffin

The usual dose:
Adults including the elderly: 10 to 30ml
when required.
Children over 3 years: 5 to 20ml when
required.
Children under 3 years: not
recommended

WINA ORAL LIQUID PARAFFIN 100% W/W
NAME AND STRENGTH OF ACTIVE INGREDIENT:
Liquid Paraffin 100% w/w
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Colourless, transparent, oily liquid, free from fluorescence in
daylight.
PHARMACODYNAMICS:
Liquid paraffin acts as a lubricant and penetrates and softens the
stools.
PHARMACOKINETICS:
Liquid paraffin is indigestible and is absorbed only to a limited
extent following ingestion.
INDICATIONS:
For the temporary relief of constipation.
RECOMMENDED DOSE:
Adults including the elderly :10 to 30ml when required.
Children over 3 years : 5 to 20ml when required.
Children under 3 years : not recommended
ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION:
Oral
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Use is contraindicated in children under 3 years of age.
Liquid Paraffin should not be used when abdominal pain, nausea, or
vomiting is present.
WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS:
Not recommended for use in children below 3 years of age.
Not recommended for use in pregnant women.
Repeated use is not advisable.
Consult your doctor if laxatives are needed every day, if you have
persistent abdominal pain or
have a condition which makes swallowing difficult.
INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER MEDICAMENTS:
There may be interference with the absorption of fat soluble vitamins.
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION:
As with all medicines avoid during early pregnancy and lactation.
SIDE EFFECTS:
Anal seepage of paraffin with consequent anal irritation after
prolonged use. Granulomatous
reaction caused by absorption of small quantities of liquid paraffin.
Lipoid pneumonia (by
accidental inhalation) may occur, therefore caution is required in
patients with swallowing
difficulty.

SYMPTOMS AND TREATMENT OF OVERDOSE:
If large doses are ingested withdraw medication. Supportive treatment
may be required.
EFFECTS ON ABILITY TO DRIVE AND USE MACHINE:
None
STORAGE CONDITION
Store below 30˚C. Protect from light.
