It is specially formulated for rubbing into the skin. Voltaren Emulgel 1.16% is used to relieve pain and reduce inflammation and swelling in a number of painful confitions affecting the joints and muscles. It can be used to treat: ADULTS AND ADOLESCENTS AGED 14 YEARS AND OLDER: • muscle and joints injuries (e.g. sprains, strains, bruises, backache, sports injuries); • tendonitis (e.g. tennis elbow) ADULTS ONLY (18 YEARS AND OLDERS): • mild arthritis of the knee or fingers. 2 BEFORE YOU USE VOLTAREN EMULGEL 1.16% DO NOT USE VOLTAREN EMULGEL 1.16% Aqra d-dokument sħiħ
SUMMARY OF PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS 1. NAME OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT Voltaren ® Emulgel TM 11.6 mg/g (1.16%) gel 2. QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION One gram of Voltaren Emulgel contains 11.6 mg of diclofenac diethylamine, which corresponds to 10 mg diclofenac sodium. Excipient(s): Propylene glycol, benzyl benzoate. For a full list of excipients, see Section 6.1. 3. PHARMACEUTICAL FORM Gel White to practically white, soft, homogeneous, cream-like gel. 4. CLINICAL PARTICULARS 4.1 THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS ADULTS AND ADOLESCENTS 14 YEARS AND OLDER: • For the relief of pain, inflammation and swelling in: - Soft-tissue injuries: trauma of the tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints, e.g. due to sprains, strains, bruises and backache (sports injuries); - Localised forms of soft tissue rheumatism: tendonitis (e.g. tennis elbow), bursitis, shoulder-hand syndrome and periarthropathy; ADULTS ONLY (18 YEARS AND OLDER): • For the relief of pain of non-serious arthritis of the knee or fingers. _ _ 4.2. POSOLOGY AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION _ADULTS AND ADOLESCENTS AGED 14 YEARS AND OVER:_ • DOSAGE Voltaren Emulgel should be applied over the affected area 3 or 4 times daily and rubbed gently into the skin. The amount needed depends on the size of the painful area: 2 g to 4 g Voltaren Emulgel (a quantity ranging in size from a cherry to a walnut) is sufficient to treat an area of about 400-800 cm². After application, the hands should be washed, unless they are the site being treated. • TREATMENT DURATION The duration of treatment depends on the indication and clinical response. - FOR SOFT-TISSUE INJURIES OR SOFT TISSUE RHEUMATISM: the gel should not be used for more than 14 days, unless recommended by a doctor. - Aqra d-dokument sħiħ
