Salicylic Acid 11.25% w/v and Camphor 2.8% w/v PATIENT INFORMATION LEAFLET Please read this leaflet carefully before using Seal & Heal Verruca Removal Gel. • Keep this leaflet, you may want to read it again. • Ask your pharmacist if you need more information or advice. WHAT IS THIS GEL FOR? This gel is used for the treatment of VERRUCAS, WARTS, CALLUSES and CORNS. Salicylic acid is a keratolytic agent, which means that it breaks down and removes verrucas, warts, calluses and corns. Camphor is a mild analgesic providing gentle pain relief. BEFORE USING THIS GEL DO NOT USE… • If you are allergic to salicylic acid or other members of the aspirin family (e.g, NSAIDs), camphor or any of the ingredients in this product. See "what this gel contains" for the full list of ingredients. • If you have diabetes, suffer from neuropathy or severe circulatory disorders, unless your doctor tells you to. • If the verruca, wart, callus, corn or surrounding skin is inflamed or broken. • On moles, birthmarks, hairy or genital warts. • On the face, bottom, genital regions or large areas of the body. • If you are pregnant or breast feeding. • In children under 12 years TAKE SPECIAL CARE… • If any of the gel comes into contact with normal skin wash off immediately with plenty of water. • Do not apply to healthy skin or skin which is inflamed or broken. • If excessive discomfort occurs, stop using the gel and remove any dressing. HOW TO USE THIS GEL • For EXTERNAL use only. • This product contains Virgin castor oil - may cause skin reactions. ADULTS AND CHILDREN 12 YEARS AND OVER: • Ensure feet are clean and dry. • Protect the healthy skin around the area to treat with soft paraffin. • Apply one or two drops of the gel directly onto the verruca, wart, callus or corn and allow to dry. • Prior to further applications, wash the existing gel layer off with mild soap and water, then dry. • Repeat treatment once a day for verrucas and warts, and twice a day for calluses and corns, until they can be eas Aqra d-dokument sħiħ
SUMMARY OF PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS 1 NAME OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT Scholl Corn and Callous Removal Liquid Scholl Medicated Corn and Callous Removal Liquid Seal and Heal Verruca Removal Gel 2 QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION INGREDIENT % W/W Salicylic Acid EP 12.50 Camphor BP 3.11 For a full list of excipients, see section 6.1. 3 PHARMACEUTICAL FORM Topical solution 4 CLINICAL PARTICULARS 4.1 THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS For the treatment of corns, calluses, common warts and plantar warts (verrucas). 4.2 POSOLOGY AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION POSOLOGY Treatment may be continued for up to twelve weeks except on medical advice. Adults: Apply directly to the callus, corn, verruca or wart twice a day. Paediatric Population Children over 12 years: As above for adults. Children aged under 12 years of age: Not recommended for children under twelve. METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION For best results the feet should be washed and dried before use. The healthy skin around the area to treat should be protected with soft paraffin. The product should be applied directly to the wart, verruca, callous or corn twice a day, until the wart, verruca callous or corn has been removed. No distinction is made between different categories of patient. 4.3 CONTRAINDICATIONS Not to be used by diabetics or those with severe circulatory disorders or suffering from neuropathy, except following a doctor’s permission and recommendation. Not to be used in patients who are hypersensitive to salicylic acid (or other NSAIDs), camphor or to any excipients in section 6.1. Not to be used if the corn, callous, wart, verruca or surrounding skin is broken or inflamed. Not to be used by pregnant or breastfeeding patients (see section 4.6) When indicated for the treatment of warts and verruca, the product must not be used on moles, birthmarks, hairy or genital warts. It must not be used on the face or anogenital skin, mucosa or large areas of the body.
