ACTIVE INGREDIENT 1g Canesten® powder contains 0.01g clotrimazole. Canesten® powder is available in packs of 20g. INDICATIONS Skin infections caused by fungi (e.g. dermatophytes, yeasts, moulds) is treated with an antifungal product (e.g. Canesten® cream, Canesten® solution). Canesten® powder may be used as an adjuvant to the above treatment or as a follow-up treatment (prevention of re-infection) of the above mentioned fungal infections (dermatomycoses) and erythrasma. PHARMACEUTICAL FORM Cutaneous powder DOSAGE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION The relevant area is dusted with powder 2-3 times a day. For athlete’s foot (fungal infection affecting the feet), Canesten® powder may be dredged in socks and shoes. After washing the feet, they should be thoroughly dried, especially the spaces between the toes, before dusting Canesten® powder. To ensure complete healing, depending on the indication the treatment should be continued for about two weeks after the disappearance of the subjective symptoms. Usually symptoms disappear after a treatment period of: Dermatomycoses 3 – 4 weeks Erythrasma 2 – 4 weeks Pityriasis versicolor 1 – 3 weeks Candida vulvitis and candida balanitis 1 – 2 weeks Patients should notify their physician if there is no improvement after 4 weeks of treatment. CONTRAINDICATIONS Hypersensitivity to clotrimazole or to any other component of the product. SPECIAL WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS FOR USE Keep medicine out of the reach of children. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not swallow. Do not use on children under 2 years of age except under the advice and supervision of a doctor.
