removal of warts.
HOW XORLYX 20 SALICYLIC ACID
20% W/W OINTMENT WORKS
XORLYX 20 Salicylic Acid 20%
w/w Ointment works by softening
keratin, a protein that forms part of
the skin structure. This helps to
loosen the skin cells to allow removal
of warts.
BEFORE YOU USE XORLYX 20 SALICYLIC
ACID 20% W/W OINTMENT
_When you must not use it _
•
If you have allergy or
hypersensitivity to Salicylic Acid
or any other ingredient in its
preparation.
•
If you are a diabetic.
•
If your peripheral blood
circulation is impaired.
•
To treat warts on the face, moles,
birthmarks, hairy warts or on
genital/anal warts.
•
On children aged less than 2
years.
•
Pregnant Women: Check with
your doctor or pharmacist before
using your medicine.
•
Breastfeeding mothers

_DESCRIPTION_
_XORLYX 20 is a Salicylic Acid Ointment contains: _
_ • Salicylic acid 0.2 g/ 1 g (20% w/w)_
_Xorlyx 20 Salicylic Acid 20% w/w ointment is a white or almost white
or translucent _
_ointment. Works by softening keratin, a protein that forms part of
the skin structure. This _
_helps to loosen the skin cells to allow removal of warts._
_PRODUCT INDICATION/USAGE_
_XORLYX 20 Salicylic Acid 20% w/w Ointment is indicated for removal
warts._
_RECOMMENDED DOSE/USE INSTRUCTION_
_Follow your doctor’s instruction carefully. They may differ from
the general instructions in _
_this leaflet._
_Before using XORLYX 20, moisten or soak the wart in warm water for
about 5 minutes to _
_help loosen and soften the treatment area. Dry thoroughly. After
soaking/moisturising and _
_before applying the treatment to the wart, use an emery board or
pumice stone to carefully _
_remove the top dead layers of skin on the affected area (avoid
sharing this board/stone _
_with others). This dead skin removal is to help the medication
penetrate the skin more _
_easily. Do not try to rub the wart off._
_Protect _
_surrounding _
_healthy _
_skin _
_(for _
_example _
_with _
_White _
_Soft _
_Paraffin _
_or _
_specially _
_designed plaster). Apply a thin layer or XORLYX 20 to cover the
entire warts. Be careful to _
_apply it only to the affected area and not the surrounding skin._
_The treatment may be used once or twice daily (in the morning and at
night) or as directed _
_by your doctor or pharmacist. Treatment should start as early as
possible after the start of _
_an infection. Subsequently, it may then be possible to maintain
improvement by less _
_frequent application. You need to apply the medication as instructed
until the warts clears _
_up, or for up to 12 weeks or as directed by your doctor or
pharmacist. If the wart persists _
_after 12 weeks, consult your doctor._
