WHAT VIGNOCAINE 2% W/V VISCOUS
SOLUTION IS USED FOR
Vignocaine 2% w/v Viscous Solution is
a topical anaesthesia used to numb and
reduce the sensation of pain for:
- Introduction of instruments and
catheters into the respiratory and
digestive tracts.
- Irritated or inflamed mucous
membranes of the mouth and pharynx,
e.g., lesions following surgical procedure
to remove the tonsils.
- Painful diseases of the upper digestive
tract, e.g. inflammation of the
oesophagus.
HOW VIGNOCAINE 2% W/V VISCOUS
SOLUTION WORKS
Lignocaine stabilises the neuronal
membrane and prevents the initiation and
conduction of nerve impulses, thereby
effecting local anaesthetic action.
BEFORE YOU USE VIGNOCAINE 2% W/V
VISCOUS SOLUTION
_- When you must not take it _

Do not take this product if you are
allergic (hypersensitivity) to lignocaine
or other local anaesthetics of amide
type.

_- Before you start to use it _

Lignocaine should be used with caution
in patients with congestive heart
failure, slower than normal heart rate,
respiratory failure, hepatic impairment,
cardiac and circulatory failure and
renal impairment.

It should be used with care if mucosa
in area of application has been
traumatized.
_- Taking other medicines _
There are some medicines may interfere
with Vignocaine 2% w/v Viscous
Solution. These include:

Beta blockers and antiarrhythmics such
as propranolol

Intravenous phenytoin

Cimetidine

Acetazolamide

Loop diuretics

Thiazides
