WHAT VASCOTEN IS USED FOR
VASCOTEN can be used to reduce high
blood pressure and to relieve chest pain
(angina)
HOW VASCOTEN WORKS
The active ingredient in your tablets is
atenolol. This belongs to a group of
medicines called beta-blockers and has
effects on your heart and circulation.
BEFORE YOU USE VASCOTEN
_- When you must not use it _
DO NOT USE VASCOTEN IF:
-
You are allergic (hypersensitive) to
atenolol
or
any
of
the
other
ingredients
of
VASCOTEN
Tablets.
-
You
have
ever
had
any
of
the
following
heart
problems:
heart
failure which is not under control
(this usually makes you breathless
and causes your ankles to swell);
second- or third-degree heart block
(a condition which may be treated
by a pacemaker); very slow or
very uneven heart beats, very low
blood
pressure
or
very
poor
circulation, sick sinus syndrome.
_Pregnancy and breastfeeding _
If you are pregnant or trying or a baby
ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice
before taking any medicine including
VASCOTEN.
Breastfeeding is not recommended for
mothers who are taking VASCOTEN.

_- Before you start to use it _
Tell your doctor if you:

are pregnant
-
have diabetes; your medicine may
change how you respond to having
low blood sugar. You may feel your
heart beating faster
-
have
thyroid
problems
(or
an
overactive thyroid)
-
have the form of angina known as
Prinzmetal's angina
-
have a history of allergies
-
have or have had the skin condition
psoriasis
-
have kidney disease
-
have breathing difficulties, asthma
or chronic bronchitis; do not take
this medicine if you have a hist
