WHAT UPHAMOL IS USED FOR
Uphamol is used for symptomatic relief
of various types of headaches including
migraine and tension-type headache.
It can also be used to relieve pain due to
colds and flu and to reduce fever.
HOW UPHAMOL WORKS
Uphamol
contains
paracetamol
as
an
active ingredient. Paracetamol works by
relieving
pain
and
reducing
high
temperature.
BEFORE YOU USE UPHAMOL

_When you must not take it_
Do not take this medicine if you have an
allergy to:

paracetamol
•
any of the other ingredients listed at
the end of this leaflet
Allergy
alert:
Paracetamol
may
cause
severe
skin
reactions.
Symptoms
may
include skin reddening, blister or rash.
These
could
be
signs
of
serious
conditions. If these reactions occur, stop
use
and
seek
medical
assistance
right
away.
Do not take Uphamol if you are taking
other products containing paracetamol.
Do not take this medicine after the expiry
date
printed
on
the
pack
or
if
the
packaging
is
torn
or
shows
signs
of
tampering. If
it
has
expired
or
is
damaged, return it to your pharmacist for
disposal.
If you are not sure whether you should
start taking this medicine, talk to your
doctor.

A 13.5mm diameter, round, flat marked 'crown-shaped with UPHAMOL' and
'650' light blue tablet.
Allergy alert: Paracetamol may cause severe skin reactions.
Symptoms may include skin reddening, blisters or rash.These could be
signs of a serious condition.
If these reactions occur, stop use and seek medical assistance right
away.
Cutaneous hypersensitivity reactions including skin rashes,
angioedema, Stevens Johnson Syndrome/
Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis have been reported.
DOSAGE
Adult and children above 12 years: 1 tablet every 4 to 6 hours (not
more than 6 tablets in one day).
If symptoms persist, consult the doctor.

PHARMACODYNAMIC
Paracetamol has analgesic and antipyretic activities. The analgesic
activity is brought about by the
inhibition of the synthesis of prostaglandins. As for the antipyretic
activity, paracetamol act centrally
on the hypothalamic heat-regulating centre to produce peripheral
vasodilation resulting in increased
cutaneous blood flow, sweating and heat loss.
PHARMACOKINETICS
Paracetamol is rapidly and almost completely absorbed after oral
administration. It is distributed into
most body tissues. It crosses the placenta and is present in breast
milk. Approximately 90-95%
