HOW UNIMED’S OXI - CLIN WORKS UNIMED’S OXI-CLIN is an antiseptic, the microbial substance that help to reduce the possibility of infection. BEFORE YOU USE UNIMED’S OXI - CLIN _-When you must not use it _ Do not use UNIMED’S OXI-CLIN • If you allergic to any of the ingredients listed in this leaflet. • In closed body cavities or surgical wounds. • To disinfect surgical instrument. • As an enema _-Pregnancy and breastfeeding _ Should be avoided if possible, during pregnancy and lactation. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if in doubt. The usual dose: _Antiseptic _ Dilute one part of UNIMED’S OXI- CLIN with one part of water. Soak cotton wool in the solution and dress the wound. Apply 2-3 times daily or when necessary. _ _ _Oral rinse_ Dilute one part of UNIMED’S OXI- CLIN with 5 parts of water. Gargle for one minute and expel. UNIMED’S OXI-CLIN (HYDROGEN PEROXIDE 6% W/V SOLUTION) NAME AND STRENGTH OF ACTIVE SUBSTANCES Hydrogen peroxide ………………………….…... 6% w/v PRODUCT DESCRIPTION A clear, colorless liquid. PHARMACODYNAMICS Hydrogen peroxide is used as a disinfectant and deodorant. It releases oxygen when applied to tissues, the effect lasts only as long as the oxygen is being released and is of short duration. The antimicrobial effect of the liberated oxygen is reduced in the presence of organic matter. It is used to cleanse wounds and ulcers in concentrations of up to 6%. Adhering and blood-soaked dressings may be released by the application of a solution of hydrogen peroxide. A 1.5% solution has been used as a mouthwash in the treatment of acute stomatitis and as a deodorant gargle. PHARMACOKINETICS No further information available. INDICATIONS UNIMED’S OXI-CLIN is an antiseptic for minor cuts or oral rinse. RECOMMENDED DOSE _ANTISEPTIC _ Dilute one part of UNIMED’S OXI-CLIN with one part of water. Gargle for one minute and expel. Use 2-3 times daily. _ _ ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION_ _ For topical or oromucosal use only. CONTRAINDICATIONS Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients . Not for use in closed body cavities or on surgical wounds due to the risk of oxygen released into the circulation causing gas embolism. Not for use as a disinfection agent for surgical instruments (particularly endoscopes) and as an enema. WARNING AND PRECAUTIONS For external use only. Keep all medicines away from children.
