WHAT TRIDIN-P SYRUP IS USED FOR
It is used as a nasopharyngeal (upper
part of the throat behind the nose) and
otic (linkage between ear and throat)
decongestant
as
well
as
for
the
symptomatic treatment of seasonal and
perennial
(symptoms
present
throughout the years) allergic rhinitis
and
non-allergic
rhinitis
(an
inflammation of the membranes inside
of the nose).
HOW TRIDIN-P SYRUP WORKS
Pseudoephedrine
Hydrochloride
and
Triprolidine
Hydrochloride
are
the
active ingredients of Tridin-P Syrup.
Triprolidine
is
a
long
acting
antihistamine which works by blocking
the effects of the naturally occurring
chemical histamine in your body and
provides symptomatic relief in allergic
conditions
triggered
by
histamine
release.
Pseudoephedrine shrinks swollen nasal
mucous
membrane,
reduces
tissue
hyperemia
(excess
blood
in
body
parts), oedema (swelling of soft tissues
as
a
result
of
excess
fluid
accumulation)
and
nasal
congestion
and
clear
nasal
passages
for
air
exchange.
BEFORE YOU USE TRIDIN-P SYRUP


If you are allergic (hypersensitive)
to
either
Triprolidine
or
Pseudoephedrine
and
other
ingredients of the Tridin-P Syrup.

If
you
are
allergic
to
other
antihistamines
or
sympathomimetics.

If
you
are
pregnant
or
breastfeeding.

If
you
are
using
monoamine
oxidase (MAO) inhibitors. The
preparation should not be taken
during
or
within
14
days
following
use
of
MAO
inhibitors.

If you are suffering from high
blood
pressure,
overactive
thyroid
gland,
ischemic
heart
disease (reduce blood supply
to the heart) or cerebrovascul

Each 5ml syrup contains:

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
(I) TRIDIN-P TABLET: A white, round, scored of diameter 8.5mm flat
tablet with ‘MPI’ marking.
(II) TRIDIN-P SYRUP: A light yellow liquid with lemon flavour and
sweet taste.
PHARMACODYNAMICS:
Triprolidine is a long acting antihistamine with anticholinergic
activity. It is a potent competitive histamine H
1
- receptor
antagonist of alkyl (propyl)-amine class which competes with histamine
for H
1
- receptor sites on effector cells and
provides symptomatic relief in allergic conditions triggered by
histamine release. Pseudoephedrine is a stereoisomer of
ephedrine which is a sympathomimetic agent with direct and indirect
effects on adrenergic receptors. Pseudoephedrine
acts on alpha-adrenergic receptors in the mucosa of the respiratory
tract, producing vasoconstriction. It shrinks swollen
nasal mucuos membranes, reduces tissue hyperemia, edema and nasal
congestion, and increases nasal airway patency.
PHARMACOKINETICS:
Triprolidine is readily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract after
oral administration. It is mostly metabolised in the
liver and excreted usually mainly as metabolites in the urine. It has
a rapid onset and long duration of action. The
maximum effect occurs in about 3

hours; the duration of effect is about 12 hours. Pseudoephedrine is
readily and
completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. It is resistant
to metabolism by monoamine oxidase and is largely
excreted unchanged in the urine. It has a half-life of several hours;
elimination is enhanced and half-life accordingly
shorter in acidic urine.
