WHAT TELMISARTAN WINTHROP IS USED
FOR
Telmisartan Winthrop is used for:
-
Treatment of hypertension (high blood
pressure).
-
Reduction of risk of myocardial
infraction (heart attack), stroke, or
death from cardiovascular causes in
patients 55 years of age or older at
high risk of developing major
cardiovascular events.
HOW TELMISARTAN WINTHROP WORKS
Telmisartan Winthrop belongs to a class
of medicines known as angiotensin II
receptor antagonists. Angiotensin II is a
substance produced in your body which
causes your blood vessels to narrow,
thus increasing your blood pressure.
Telmisartan blocks the effect of
angiotensin II so that the blood vessels
relax, and your blood pressure is
lowered.

Do not take Telmisartan Winthrop if

you are allergic (hypersensitive) to
telmisartan or any other ingredients
included in the tablets (see section
_Product description_
for a list of other
ingredients)

you are pregnant (when pregnancy is
detected, Telmisartan Winthrop
should be discontinued as soon as
possible)

you are breastfeeding

you have biliary obstructive disorders

you have severe liver impairment
If any of the above applies to you, tell
your doctor or pharmacist before taking
Telmisartan Winthrop.
