WHAT IS SPASMOLIV USED FOR
It is used to relieve spasm:

due
to
stomach
and
small
intestines
ulcers.

in gastrointestinal and large intestines

caused by kidney stones or gallstone

during menstrual pain

due
to
rapid
movement
of
gastrointestinal tract

caused by post-operative vomiting.
HOW SPASMOLIV WORKS
Hyoscine
N-butylbromide
is
an
antispasmodic, where it helps to relax the
cramping muscles and relieve the painful
abdominal cramps.
BEFORE YOU USE SPASMOLIV

Do not use Spasmoliv if you are allergic to
any ingredients in this medicine.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist before using

have nerve-muscular disorders.

have gastrointestinal obstruction.

have inflammatory bowel disease.

have heart or blood vessels diseases.

have glaucoma (increased pressure in
the eye).

have overactive of thyroid gland.

HYOSCINE N-BUTYLBROMIDE 10MG
FILM-COATED TABLETS
COMPOSITION
Each film-coated tablet contains Hyoscine N-Butylbromide 10mg
INDICATIONS
Relief of gastrointestinal spasm in gastric and duodenal ulcers,
gastrointestinal and colonic spasm, acute spasm in renal or biliary
colic,
spasmodic dysmenorrhoea, hypermotility, post-operative vomiting.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
To be administered orally. Unless otherwise prescribed by the
physician :
Adults
: 1 - 2 tablets four times daily.
Children over 6 years
: 1 tablet three times daily.
The film-coated tablets should be swallowed whole with sufficient
fluid.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Glaucoma, obstructive diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, unstable
cardiovascular adjustment in acute haemorrhage, and in myasthenia
gravis.
PRECAUTIONS
- SPASMOLIV should be used with caution in elderly men, patients
having fever, autonomic neuropathy, ulcerative colitis,
hyperthyroidism
and cardiovascular diseases.
SIDE EFFECTS
Side effects are rare when SPASMOLIV is
administered in
the usual dose. However, high doses may produce dry mouth, blurred
vision and
palpitation.
OVERDOSAGE AND TREATMENT
The symptoms may progress from
an
intensification of the
usual side
effects to CNS disturbances (from restlessness and excitement to
psychotic
behaviour),
circulatory changes
(flushing, fall in blood
pressure,
circulatory failure),
respiratory
failure
and coma. The stomach
should be emptied by aspiration and lavage. Charcoal may be given to
reduce absorption, followed by lavage. Purgation such as Sodium
Sulphate may also be used. Neostigmine methylsulphate can be given to
control the peripheral effects.
Excitement can be controlled by
diazepam or a short-acting barbiturate. Supportive therapy should also
be given.
