WHAT _PHENYLIN_ IS USED FOR
For the symptomatic relief of nasal
congestion due to cough and cold and
allergic conditions, mainly rhinitis
(nasal inflammation).
HOW _PHENYLIN_ WORKS
Brompheniramine maleate is an
antihistamine with moderate sedative
effects. It is for the symptomatic relief
of allergic conditions, mainly rhinitis
(nasal inflammation) and
conjunctivitis (inflammation of the
eye or ‘red eye’). It is also a common
ingredient in cough and cold
preparations. Phenylephrine
hydrochloride is a decongestant which
unblocks the nose and sinuses help
ease breathing.
BEFORE YOU USE _PHENYLIN _
_When you must not use it _
Allergy to the ingredients of _Phenylin_.
It is not recommended in the treatment
of bronchial asthma.

_Before you start to use it _
Not to be used in children less than 2
years of age. To be used with caution
and doctor’s advice in children 2 to 6
years of age. Caution when driving or
doing jobs requiring alertness because
of possible drowsiness. Avoid
alcoholic beverages.

_Taking other medicines _
Tell your doctor if you are taking any
other medicines e.g. alcohol,
barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants,
narcotic analgesics, monoamine
oxidase (MAO) inhibitors or atropine
that may increase the effects of either
medications. Also including any
medicine that you buy without a
prescription from a pharmacy,
supermarket or health food shop.
HOW TO USE _PHENYLIN_
_How much to use _
Adults: 2 teaspoonfuls (10ml) 4 – 6
hourly. Children: 6 – 12 years old: 1
teaspoonful (5ml) 4 – 6 hourly.
Children: 2 – 6 years old: ½ teaspoonful
