WHAT NORMATEN IS USED FOR
It is used to:

treat high blood pressure (hypertension).

treat irregular heart beat (dysrhythmias).

prevent chest pain (angina).

as early treatment of the heart after the
heart attack (myocardial infarction).
HOW NORMATEN WORKS
Atenolol
is
a
beta-blocker,
which
slows
down heart contraction, reduces response of
heart to stress and exercise, and reduces
blood pressure.
BEFORE YOU USE NORMATEN
_- When you must not take it _
Do not take Normaten if you:

are allergic (hypersensitivity) to atenolol
or any ingredients in this medicine.

have difficulty in breathing or airway
obstruction.

suffer
from
too
much
acid
in
blood
(metabolic acidosis).

have slow heart beat (bradycardia).

have partial heart block.

have
insufficient
supply
of
blood
in
body.

have heart failure.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you:

have
tumor
of
adrenal
gland
(phaeochromocytoma).

have
weak
heart
function
or
heart
disease.

have diabetes.

have
hyperthyroidism
(overactive
of
thyroid gland).

have blockage of blood vessels.

have kidney failure.

have
insufficient
supply
of
blood
in
body (cardiogenic shock).

have difficulty in breathing or airway
obstruction.

will be undergone anaesthesia.

are pregnant or plan to pregnant.

are breast-feeding or plan to start breast-
feeding.

HOW TO USE NORMATEN
_- How much to use _
_Hypertension _
50mg to 100mg once daily
_Angina _
50mg twice daily or 100mg once daily
_Dysrhythmias _
50mg to 100mg once daily.
