Idaman Pharma Diazepam Tablet 5mg is
used to:

Treat anxiety

acute
alcohol
withdrawal
symptoms

tension

endoscopic
procedures

Indicated

Idaman Pharma Diazepam Tablet 5mg
belongs to a group of medicines called
benzodiazepines. It is thought to work by
acting on chemicals in the brain as a
tranquilizer.
BEFORE
YOU
USE
IDAMAN
PHARMA
DIAZEPAM TABLET 5MG
_- When you must not use it _
Do not take Idaman Pharma Diazepam
Tablet 10mg and tell your doctor if:
•
You
are
allergic
to
diazepam
or
to
other benzodiazepine medicines or to
any of the other ingredients in your
tablets
(see
section
PRODUCT
DESCRIPTION
).
•
You have acute-close angle glaucoma
(high pressure in the eye)
•
You suffer psychotic disorder (mental
illness)
•
You
have
myasthenia
gravis
(a
condition
which
causes
muscles
to
weaken and tire easily)
•
You have severe breathing problems
(severe obstructive disease)

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Clean, dry, uniform, round, flat, bevel edged tablets and scored on
one
side. Colour: Yellow.
Each tablet contains Diazepam 5mg
Source of lactose: Bovine
ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION: Oral
PHARMACODYNAMICS
Mechanism of Action: In general, diazepam act as depressants of the
central nervous system (CNS), producing all levels of CNS depression
from mild sedation to hypnosis to coma depending on dose.
The precise sites and mechanisms of action have not been completely
established.
Although
various
mechanisms
of
action
have
been
proposed, it is believed that benzodiazepines advance or facilitate
the
inhibitory neurotransmitter action of gamaaminobutyric acid (GABA),
which mediates both pro-and post-synaptic inhibition in all regions of
the
CNS,
following
interaction
between
diazepam
and
a
specific
neuronal membrane receptor.
Antianxiety
Agent:
Sedative-hypnotic
Believed
to
stimulate
GAMA
receptors in the ascending reticular activating system. Since GAMA is
inhibitory, receptor stimulation increases inhibitions and blocks both
cortical and limbic arousal following stimulation of the brain stem
formation.
Anticonvulsant:
Appear
to
act,
at
least
partially,
by
enhancing
presynaptic inhibition. Suppress the spread of seizure activity
produced
by epileptogenic foci in the cortex, thalamus and limbic structures
but
do not abolish the abnormal discharge of the focus.
Skeletal Muscle Relaxant: The exact mechanism of action of diazepam
has not been completely established but it appears to produce skeletal
muscle relaxation primarily by inhibiting spinal polysynaptic afferent
pathways;
however,
it
may
also
inhibit
monosynaptic
afferent
pathways.
Diazepam
may
inhibit
monosynaptic
and
polysynaptic
reflexes by acting as an inhibitory neuronal transmitter or by
blocking
excitatory synaptic transmission. It may also directly depress motor
nervo and muscle function.
Antitremor Agent: Mechanism of action is not known.
