Date of revision What IBUFEN is used for IBUFEN is used for: - Relief of the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. - Relief of mild to moderate pain. - Antigout agent to treat non- rheumatic inflammatory conditions. - To relieve menstrual pain. How IBUFEN works Ibuprofen stops the body from producing large amounts of prostaglandins when you have an illness or injury. As Ibuprofen blocks the production of prostaglandins, it works at the site of pain to help relieve pain and reduce inflammation. Before you use IBUFEN - When you must not use it If you have hypersensitive to Aspirin or Ibuprofen. Pregnancy and lactation Do not take IBUFEN if you are pregnant, trying to get pregnant or think you may be pregnant. Do not take IBUFEN if you are breast- feeding. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine. - Before you start use it Tell your doctor if you - Have bleeding disorders, cardiovascular disease, peptic ulceration or a history of such ulceration - If you are receiving coumarin anticoagulants - If you are patients with hypertension, asthma, breathing difficulty, heart failure and kidney failure. - Taking other medicines Tell your doctor if you are taking oral anticoagulants, thiazide diuretics or any other medicines, including any that you buy without a prescription from a pharmacy, supermarket or health food shop. How to use IBUFEN - How much to use IBUFEN SYRUP Children: 20 mg / kg body weight per day in divided doses. Anti-inflammatory action: It may act peripherally in inflamed tissue, probably be inhibiting the synthesis and/or actions of other local mediators of the inflammatory response. PHARMACOKINETICS: Ibuprofen is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and peak plasma concentrations occurred about 1 to 2 hours after ingestion. Ibuprofen is extensively bound to plasma proteins and has a half-life of about 2 hours. It is rapidly excreted in the urine mainly as metabolites and their conjugates. About 1% is excreted in urine as unchanged Ibuprofen and about 14% as conjugated Ibuprofen. INDICATIONS: For the relief of the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Maintenance : 200 mg to 400 mg 3 times daily. This dose may be increased to 2.4 g daily if necessary.
