HYSONE CREAM 1% (W/W) DESCRIPTION HYSONE CREAM 1% (w/w) 169mm (w) x 142mm (h) INDICATION A white coloured, homogeneous cream containing Hydrocortisone Acetate 1%. _Preservatives: Methylparaben 0.32% w/w, Propylparaben 0.048% w/w._ For relief of symptoms of acute and chronic skin dermatoses, e.g. Eczema, contact dermatitis and psoriasis. Corticosteroids diffuse through cell membranes and complexes with specific cytoplasmic cell receptors. These complexes then enters the cell nucleus, binds to DNA, and stimulate transcription of mRNA to produce various inhibitory enzymes responsible for the anti-inflammatory effects of the corticosteroids. These inflammatory effects includes inhibition of early process such as oedema, fibrin deposition, capillary dilatation, movement of phagocytes into the area and phagocytic activities. Later process such as capillary production, collagen deposition, and keloid formation are also inhibited by corticosteroids. The overall action of corticosteroids is catabolic. Hysone Cream 1% (w/w) is absorbed systemically through the stratum corneum. The penetration process is enhanced by increasing skin hydration and/or temperature. Occlusion also enhances penetration. Increased percutaneous absorption also occurs when the mucosa or skin is abraded or inflammed; when body temperature is elevated; with prolonged use and/or with extensive use. Repeated application results in a cumulative depot effect in the skin, which may lead to prolonged duration of action, increased side effects, and increased systemic absorption. A small quantity should be applied to the affected area 2 or 3 times daily until improvement occurs. It may then be possible to maintain improvement by applying once a day, or even less often. Occlusion of the area under treatment with plastic film may be used to enhance the effect in more resistant cases. Route of Administration: For External use only Prolonged and intensive treatment, particularly with occlusive dressing, may cause local atrophic changes in the skin, such as striae Baca dokumen lengkap
