WHAT GASCOAL
® TABLET 50MG
IS USED FOR
Gascoal
®
Tablet 50mg is used for relief of
the painful symptoms of excess gas in the
digestive tract. It is also useful in upper
gastrointestinal tract endoscopy to remove
foam that can obscure the field vision and is
used to reduce gas shadows in radiography.
HOW GASCOAL
® TABLET 50MG
WORKS
The
anti-foaming
action
of
dimethylpolysiloxane relieves flatulence by
dispersing and preventing the formation of
mucus-surrounded
gas
pockets
in
the
gastrointestinal tract. It acts in the stomach
and intestines to change the surface tension
of gas bubbles, enabling them to coalesce;
thus, gas is freed and eliminated more easily
by belching or passing flatus.
BEFORE YOU USE GASCOAL
® TABLET 50MG
_-When you must not use it_
Do not use Gascoal
®
Tablet 50mg if you
have allergy towards dimethylpolysiloxane
or any components in this tablet preparation.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry
date or if the packaging is torn.
_-Before you start to use it _
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are
allergic
to
dimethylpolysiloxane
or
any
components of this preparation.

_Taking other medicines _
Seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist
if you intend to use Gascoal
®
Tablet 50mg
together with other medication.
Besides
that,
you
must
also
inform
your
doctor or pharmacist about all the medicines
you are taking, including those without a
prescription.
HOW TO USE GASCOAL
® TABLET 50MG
_-How much to use _
1 tablet 4 times daily after meal and at
bedtime. May also be taken when required.

Gascoal
contains
Dimethylpolysiloxane,
which
has
anti-foaming and water-repellent properties.
INGREDIENT(S):
Each tablet contains :
Dimethylpolysiloxane …...................................... 50mg
PHARMACOLOGY (SUMMARY OF PHARMACODYNAMIC
AND PHARMACOKINETIC) :
PHARMACODYNAMICS:
1. Gascoal is used for relief of the painful symptoms of
excess gas in the digestive tract.
2. Gascoal is also useful in upper gastrointestinal
tract endoscopy to remove foam that can obscure
the field of vision, and is used to reduce gas
shadows in radiography.
3. Gascoal is proved to be physiologically inert and
without toxicity.
PHARMACOKINETICS:
1. Dimethylpolysiloxane acts in vitro to lower the
surface tension of gas bubbles and it is an effective
antiflatulence and antibloating agent.
2. Dimethylpolysiloxane is excreted in the feces, as
unchanged drug.
INDICATION(S):
For the relief of flatulence and gas expellation for
(gastroscopic) gastrodiagraphic and X-ray examination.
DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION:
1 tablet, 4 times daily after meals and at bedtime.
May also be taken when required.
SIDE EFFECTS / ADVERSE REACTION(S):
Soft feces, nausea and vomiting.
SYMPTOMS AND TREATMENT OF OVERDOSAGE AND
ANTIDOTE(S):
None.
SHELF LIFE:
3 years from the date of manufacture.
STORAGE CONDITION:
Keep in a tight container. Store at temperature below
30
o
C. Protect from light and moisture.
PACKAGING:
Plastic bottle of 100’s, 500’s, 1000’s, 1500’s and 1000’s
x 3 (for export only).
