WHAT IS FLUCESS USED FOR
This medicine is used to treat certain
types of fungal or yeast infections.
HOW FLUCESS WORKS
FLUCESS contains the active
ingredient fluconazole.
Fluconazole belongs to a group of
medicines called azole antibiotics.
It works by preventing the growth of
the fungal and yeast organisms
causing your infection.
BEFORE YOU USE FLUCESS

_When you must not use it _
Do not take this medicine if you have
an allergy to:
•
Fluconazole (the active
ingredient), or to any of its other
ingredients.
•
Any other similar antifungal
medicines such as miconazole,
ketoconazole or clotrimazole.
Do not take this medicine if you are
taking other medicines such as
terfinadine, cisapride, astemizole,
pimozide, quinidine and
erythromycin.
_Pregnancy _
Inform your doctor if you have such
conditions:
•
Pregnant of planning to become
pregnant
Flucess may cause harm to your
unborn baby. You should not
take Flucess while you are
pregnant or planning to become
pregnant.
If you are a woman of
childbearing potential, avoid
becoming pregnant during
treatment. Use effective
contraception during treatment
and for 1 week after treatment.
_Breast-feeding _
•
Flucess is excreted in human
breast milk, hence its use in
nursing mothers is not
recommended. However, breast-
feeding may be maintained if
you took a single dose of
Flucess 150 mg. Breast-feeding
is not recommended after a high
dose (more than 150 mg) or
repeated use of Flucess.
