White to off-white, round tablets with breaker score on one side and imprint "20" on the other side. Dimensions ca.
12mm in diameter, ca. 4.6mm in height
4. CLINICAL PARTICULARS
4.1 Therapeutic Indications
Piroxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) indicated for symptomatic relief of rheumatoid
arthritis, osteoarthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. Due to its safety profile, piroxicam is not a first line option should
an NSAID be indicated.
4.2 Posology and method of administration
Undesirable effects may be minimized by using the minimum effective dose for the shortest duration necessary to
control symptoms_. _
_ Dosage_
Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis and Ankylosing Spondylitis
The maximum recommended daily dose is 20 mg.
_ Administration_
Oral (Dispersible Tablets)
Piroxicam dispersible tablets can be swallowed whole with fluid, or may be dispersed in
a minimum of 50 ml of water and then swallowed.
Combined Administration
Combination therapy with gastro-protective agents should be carefully considered for patients at high risk of
gastrointestinal complications.
4.3 Contraindications
Piroxicam is contraindicated in:
Patients with active peptic ulcerations.
