Date of revision What Dyna Laxative Pill is used for Indicated for the treatment of constipation and bowel evacuation before investigation procedures or surgery. How Dyna Laxative Pill works Bisacodyl is known as a stimulant laxative. It works by increasing the movement of the intestines, helping the stool to come out. Before you use Dyna Laxative Pill - When you must not use it Dyna Laxative Pill should not be used if you have intestinal obstruction, abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting. Pregnancy and lactation Do not take Dyna Laxative Pill if you are pregnant, trying to get pregnant or think you may be pregnant especially in the first trimester. Do not take Dyna Laxative Pill if you are breast-feeding. Ask your doctor or pharmacists for advice before taking Dyna Laxative Pill. - Before you start to use it Tell your doctor if you are hypersensitive to Bisacodyl and other ingredients listed in the leaflet. - Taking other medicines Tell your doctor if you are taking any other medicines, including any that you buy without a prescription from a pharmacy, supermarket or health food shop. The concomitant use of antacids and milk products may result in indigestion and gastric irritation. Used of diuretics or corticosteroids may increase risk of salt imbalance when taken excessively. DYNA LAXATIVE PILL MAL20014531XZ DESCRIPTION: TABLET Colour : Brown Shape : Round and Biconvex Coating : Enteric-coated CONTENT: Each tablet contains: Bisacodyl .............................................. 5 mg PHARMACODYNAMICS: Bisacodyl is a contact laxative acting directly on the colonic mucosa to produce normal peristalsis throughout the intestine where it stimulates sensory nerve to produce parasympathetic contraction of the colon. PHARMACOKINETICS: Following administration by mouth a small amount is absorbed and excreted in the urine as the glucuronide, but up to 38% of the dose has been stated to be excreted in the urine in some patients. About 3% of the glucuronide appear in the bile after about 10 hours. Bisacodyl is mainly excreted in the faeces. INDICATION: For the treatment of constipation and bowel evacuation before investigation procedures or surgery. RECOMMENDED DOSE: Children 6 years and above: 1 tablet. Adults: 2 tablets. To be taken before bedtime. Do not chew the tablet. Swallow whole with a glass of water. Do not exceed the stated dose unless advised by a physician. Milk and antacid should not be taken within 1 hour. ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION: FOR ORAL USE ONLY CONTRAINDICATIONS: Bisacodyl is contraindicated to patients hypersensitive to Bisacodyl. It should also not be given to patients with intestinal obstruction, abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting. WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS: Avoid prolonged use. DRUG INTERACTIONS: The concomitant use of antacids and milk products may reduce the resistance of the coating of the tablets and result in dyspepsia and gastric irritation. The concomitant use of diuretics or adreno-corticosteroids may increase the risk of electrolyte imbalance. However, this situation only arises if excessive doses of Bisacodyl are taken. PREGNANCY AND LACTATION: There are no reports of undesirable or damaging effects during pregnancy or to the foetus attributable to the use of Bisacodyl.
