WHAT DUSPATALIN®
IS USED FOR
Duspatalin® is used to treat
symptoms of irritable bowel
syndrome (IBS), such as
▪
abdominal pain and cramps
▪
feeling bloated and having
wind
▪
diarrhoea, constipation or a
combination of both
▪
small, hard, pellet-like or
ribbon-like stools (faeces).
Duspatalin® is also used to relieve
cramps and pain in your stomach or
gut caused by
other medical
conditions.
HOW DUSPATALIN® WORKS
Duspatalin® contains mebeverine
hydrochloride that belongs to a group
of medicines called anti spasmodics,
which act on your gut or intestine.
The intestine is a long muscular tube
which food passes down so it can be
digested. If the intestine goes into
spasm and squeezes too tightly, you
get pain. This medicine works by
relieving the spasm and pain.
BEFORE YOU USE DUSPATALIN®

Do not take Duspatalin® if:

You are allergic

mebeverine or any of the
other ingredients of
Duspatalin®
Do not use Duspatalin® if any of the
above applies to you. If y
ou are not
sure, talk to your doctor or
pharmacist before taking
Duspatalin®.
_- Before you start to use it _
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist
before taking Duspatalin® if you
suffer from any medical conditions
or illnesses, in particular:
•
if you are lactose or sucrose
intolerant
_- Taking other medicines_

Duspatalin is not expected to affect
any other medicines that you take.
However, please tell your doctor or
pharmacist if you are taking or have
recently taken any other medicines.
This includes medicines obtained
without a prescription and herbal
medicines.

MEDICINE.
Keep this leaflet. You may need to read it again. If you have
questions not answered by this pamphlet,
please ask your doctor or pharmacist. This medicine has been
prescribed to you personally and you
should not pass it on to others. It may harm them, even if their
symptoms are the same as yours.
Duspatalin 135 mg coated tablets are round, white, sugar-coated
tablets for oral administration (to be
taken by mouth), containing 135 mg mebeverine hydrochloride per
tablet.
Excipients (non-medicinal ingredients):
_Core:_
lactose monohydrate, starch (potato), povidone, talc, magnesium
stearate
_Coating:_
talc, sucrose, gelatine, acacia, carnauba wax
INDICATIONS
Symptomatic treatment of abdominal pain and cramps, bowel disturbances
and intestinal discomfort
related to irritable bowel syndrome.
Treatment of gastro-intestinal spasm secondary to organic disease.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

_Adults _
Take one tablet three times daily, approximately 20 minutes before a
meal.
Swallow the tablets with at least 100ml water, do not chew.
Always take Duspatalin exactly as your doctor has prescribed. If you
have any questions, check with
your doctor or pharmacist.
If you forget to take your tablet (s), do not take a double dose to
compensate for it. If you require
further information, please ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
_Paediatric population _
Duspatalin 135mg tablets are not recommended for use in children and
adolescents below 18, due to
insufficient data on safety and efficacy.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients
listed above.
WARNINGS AND SPECIAL
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
Since Duspatalin coated tablets contain lactose, patients with rare
hereditary problems of galactose
intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose
malabsorption should not take this
medicine.
