Citrex Glucosamine works by keep

BEFORE
YOU
USE
CITREX
GLUCOSAMINE 500MG CAPSULE
_When you must not use it _
Citrex Glucosamine should not be
used in patients with allergic to this
medicine.
Citrex Glucosamine should not be
used
in
patients
with
allergic
to
chittin in the sea shrimp and crab
shell.
Citrex Glucosamine should not be
used by children, pregnant women
and lactating mothers.
_Before you start to use it _
Do not take Citrex Glucosamine if
you
are
pregnant,
trying
to
get
pregnant
or
think
you
may
be
pregnant.
Do not take Citrex Glucosamine if
you
are
breast-feeding.
Ask
your
doctor
or
pharmacist
for
advice
before taking any medicine.
If you have Diabetes Mellitus Type
2 and overweight, you are advised to
monitor your blood sugar level while
taking Citrex Glucosamine.

powder.

derived from seafood (Chitin in the sea shrimp and crab shell)
ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION

PHARMACODYNAMICS
Glucosamine is a natural substance found in chitin, mucoproteins,
and mucopolysaccharides. It is involved in the manufacture of
glycosaminoglycan,
which
forms
cartilage
tissue
in
the
body;
glucosamine is also present in tendons and ligaments. Glucosamine
must be synthesised by the body but the ability to do this decline
with age. Glucosamine and its salts have therefore been advocated
in the treatment of rheumatic disorders including osteoarthritis.
Glucosamine also acts to improve the viscosity of synovial fluid by
increasing synovial fluid production, thereby providing lubricant
activity.
PHARMACOKINETICS
Absorption:
After oral administration, bioavailability is low due to first-pass
hepatic metabolism~26%. The gastrointestinal absorption is close
to 90%.
Distribution:
Glucosamine is not protein-bound, but rather incorporates into
plasma proteins (primarily globulins)
Volume of Distribution: 2.5 Liters
Metabolism: Liver, extensive. The first-pass effect in the liver in
which more than 70% of glucosamine is metabolized.
Excretion: Renal
excretion, 10%

INDICATIONS
As adjuvant therapy for osteoarthritis.
RECOMMENDED DOSAGE
a)
Light or Moderate Arthrosic Symptoms: 1 capsule twice daily for
at least 6 weeks.
b)
Severe Arthrosic Symptoms: Initial therapy: 1 capsule 3 times a
day is recommended during a period of at least 8 weeks.
c)
Follow-up Theraphy: Maintenance therapy should be followed
for 3 – 4 months by administration of 1 capsule twice daily.

Long-term treatment: The treatment should be repeat
