WHAT CINNA TABLET IS USED FOR
It is used for symptomatic treatment of nausea
and vertigo (dizziness or spinning sensation
associated with inner ear disturbances) due to
Meniere’s
d
isease
and
other
labyrinthine
disturbances. It can also be used for prevention
of
motion
sickness
and
also
used
in
the
management of peripheral arterial disease.
HOW CINNA TABLET WORKS
Cinnarizine belongs to a group of medicines
called
calcium
channel
blo
cker
with
vasodilator action and antihistamine action. It
increases and normalizes blood circulation to
the brain and therefore increases the oxygen
supply
of
blood
vessels.
CINNA
TABLET
also
inhibits
stimulation
of
the
vestibular
system.
BEFORE YOU USE CINNA TABLET
_-When you must not use it _
If you are allergic towards cinnarizine. Avoid
taking CINNA TABLET if you are pregnant or
breastfeeding.
_-Before you start to use it _
Tell
your
doctor
or
pharmacist
if
you
are
allergic to any other medicines or you have
any other health related problems.
_-Taking other medicines _
Seek for your doctor or pharmacist advice if
you intended to use CINNA TABLET together
with other medications. Besides, you must also
inform them about all the medicines you are
taking, including those without a prescription.
HOW TO USE CINNA TABLET
_-How much to use _
The usual adult dose for CINNA TABLET
is 1 tablet three times daily. Children of 5-
12 years of age can be given ½ tablet for up
to three times daily.
For
prevention
of
motion
sickness,
one
tablet
may
be
taken
2
hours
before the start of the journey with
subsequently ½ tablet every 8 hours
during the journey if necessary.

Cinnarizine
is
a
new
type
of
vasodilator
in
the
treatment
of
consequences of cerebral and coronary arteriosclerosis. It also has
the properties and uses of the antihistamines, such as Meclizine,
but it is mainly used for the symptomatic treatment of nausea and
vertigo
due
to
Meniere’s
disease
and other labyrinthine disturbances.

PHARMACODYNAMICS:
1. Cinnarizine
increases
and
normalizes
cerebral
circulation
and thereby increase the oxygen supply of the arteriosclerotic
cerebral
vessels.
It
prevents
and
eliminates
vascular
spasms
of the labyrinth.
2. The
improvement
of
cerebral
circulation
is
also
sustained
by
the
fact
that
Cinnarizine
increases
the
blood
flow
as
well as the blood and oxygen supply to the heart muscle.
The heart capacity is improved.
3. The mechanism of action of Cinnarizine may be explained
by
its
direct
inhibitory
action
on
the
tonus
of
the
smooth
muscles
of
certain
arterioles
which
renders
less
sensitive
to certain contractile substances such as angiotensin.
PHARMACOKINETICS:
It acts within about 30 minutes after oral administration, and its
effect last for about 4 hours, with peak level achieved with 2 ~ 3
hours. About 90 % of the drug is excreted in the urine and stool
after 72 hours of oral administration.
INDICATION(S):
For the symptomatic treatment of nausea and vertigo due to
Meniere’s disease and other labyrinthine disturbances; for the
prevention
of
motion
sickness;
also
used
in
the
management
of peripheral arterial disease.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
The usual dose is 15 - 30mg three times daily.
Children aged 5 to 12 years may be given half the adult dose.
For motion sickness: 30mg may be taken 2 hours before the start of
the
journey
and
15mg
every
8
hours
during
the
journey.
MODE OF ADMINISTRATION:
To be taken orally
SYMPTOMS AND TREATMENT FOR OVERDOSAGE AND ANTIDOTE(S):
It is nontoxic substance, only doses may cause slight sleepiness,
which disappears rapidly a
