WHAT BLOPRESS IS USED FOR
Blopress is used to treat high blood
pressure.
HOW BLOPRESS WORKS
This belongs to a group of medicines
called angiotensin II receptor
antagonists. It works by making your
blood vessels relax and widen. This
helps to lower your blood pressure. It
also makes it easier for your heart to
pump blood to all parts of your body
.
BEFORE YOU USE BLOPRESS
_- When you must not use it _
•
If you are pregnant
•
If you are allergic to any
component of Blopress
•
you are treated with a blood
pressure lowering medicine
containing aliskiren.
_- Before you start to use it _
Before you take Blopress, tell your
doctor if you:
•
you are pregnant or planning to
get pregnant
•
you have kidney problem
•
you have liver problem

_- Taking other medicines _
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you
are using, have recently used or might
use any other medicines. Blopress can
affect the way some other medicines
work and some medicines can have
an effect on Blopress. If you are using
certain medicines, your doctor may
need to do blood tests from time to
time.
In particular, tell your doctor if you
are using any of the following
medicines:
•
Other medicines to help lower
your blood pressure
•
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory
drugs (NSAIDs) (medicines to
relieve pain and inflammation).
•
Potassium supplements or salt
substitutes containing potassium
(medicines that increase the
amount of potassium in your
blood).
•
Lithium (a medicine for mental
health problems).

BLOPRESS ®TABLETS
Composition
BLOPRESS ®Tablet 8 mg is pale pink tablet with score line on both sides, each tablet contains
8mg candesartan cilexetil.
BLOPRESS ® Tablet 16 mg is light pink tablet with one convex side and one scored flat side,
embossing 16 candesartan cilexetil.
Indication
Treatment of Hypertension Dosage and Method of administration
A suggested starting dose of BLOPRESS ® is 4 mg once daily. The dosage should be increased
according to the therapeutic response unti l 16 mg on ce daily. The maximum
antihypertensive effect is attained within 4 weeks of initiation treatment.
Administration
BLOPRESS ® is to be taken once daily with or without food.
Use in the elderly
No dosage adjustment is necessary in patients up to 75 years old. In the patients with more
than 75 years, an initial dose of 2 mg is recommended. The dose may be adjusted according
to response.
Use in impaired renal function
No dosage adjustment is necessary in patients with mild renal impairment. In th e patients
with moderate to severe renal impairment, an initial dose of 2 mg once daily is
recommended. The dose may be adjusted according to response.
Use in impaired hepatic function
An initial dose of 2 mg once daily is recommended in patients with m ild to moderate hepatic
impairment. The dose may be adjusted according to response. There is no experience in
patients with severe hepatic impairment.
BLOPRESS ® may be administered with other antihypertensive agents. Use in children
The safety and effic acy of BLOPRESS ® have not been established in children.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any component of BLOPRESS ® Tablets.
- Pregnancy and lactation
- The use of canderstan cilexetil in combination with aliskiren -containing medicines in
patients wi th diabetes or moderate to severe renal impairment
