WHAT IS ANVELIN SYRUP USED FOR
It helps to relieve sudden constriction of
the muscles in the walls of the airway,
which
causes
difficulty
in
breathing
for
patients with asthma and for patients with
inflammation of the mucous membranes of
the bronchi (the airway that carry airflow
to the lungs).
HOW ANVELIN SYRUP WORKS
Terbutaline is a bronchodilator, it dilates
the bronchi and decreases resistance in the
airway, and increases the airflow to the
lungs.
BEFORE YOU USE ANVELIN SYRUP_ _
_When you must not use it_
Do
not
use
Anvelin
Syrup
if
you
are
allergic to any ingredients in this medicine.

_Before you start to use it_
Tell your doctor or pharmacist before using
Anvelin Syrup if you:
•
are pregnant or plan to get pregnant.
•
are
breast-feeding
or
plan
to
start
breast-feeding.
•
have
an
overactive
thyroid
glands
(hyperthyroidism).
•
have
high
blood
pressure,
heart
or
blood
vessels
disorders,
irregular
heartbeat
•
have high blood sugar levels.
_Taking other medicines_
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are
taking or have recently taken any other
medicines.
This
includes
any
medicines
which
you
have
bought
without
a
prescription.
Β-blockers and propanolol may decrease
the effects of terbutaline.
HOW TO USE ANVELIN SYRUP_ _

10- 15ml, three times a day

Anvelin
SYRUP / TABLETS
COMPOSITION
SYRUP :
TABLETS:
Contains Terbutaline Sulphate 0.03% w/v. Sodium
Benzoate 0.1% w/v as preservative.
Each tablet contains Terbutaline Sulphate 2.5 mg
PROPERTIES
Terbutaline acts selectively on the bronchial muscle to relieve
bronchospasm.
INDICATIONS
Relief of bronchospasm in asthma and chronic bronchitis.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
For oral use only.
SYRUP:
Adults: 10 to 15 ml three times a day;
Children: 0.075 mg (0.25 ml)/ kg body weight three times a day;
TABLETS:
Adults: 1 to 2 tablets three times a day;
Children: 7 to 12 years: 1 tablet two or three times a day.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
ANVELIN should not be used in patients with hyperthyroidism;
hypersensitivity to
sympathomimetic amines or tachyarrythmia.
PRECAUTIONS
ANVELIN should be used with care in patients with hyperthyroidism,
diabetes mellitus,
hypertension or serious cardiovascular disorders, in elderly and
pregnant women.
DRUG INTERACTIONS
Propranolol and other
ß
-blockers may antagonise the effects of terbutaline.
SIDE EFFECTS
Mild tremor (usually with the hands) may occur in some patients. Other
side-effects
that may occur include headache, nervous tension, peripheral
vasodilatation and
tachycardia.
OVERDOSAGE
In cases of overdosage and poisoning, hospital admission is advisable.
Symptoms
include severe forms of side-effects. Significant tachycardia, muscle
tremor and
superficial vasodilatation are common. Treatment may include gastric
lavage. A
selective
ß
1-blocker may be given intravenously but care must be taken in
patients
with a history of bronchospasm.

3 years from the date of manufacture
PRESENTATION
Syrup : Clear, colourless, cola flavoured syrup in packs of 100ml.
Tablets : White, round tablets in packs of 1000's.
STORAGE
Keep container well closed. Store below 30°C.
