HEALTH EFFECTS
ACUTE
Swallowed:
Harmful. May lead to nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, water retention,
electrolyte imbalance and increased blood pressure.
Eye:
Mild irritant.
Skin:
Mild irritant. May lead to sensitisation reactions in certain
individuals.
Inhaled:
Does not present an inhalation problem.
CHRONIC
Due to the presence of Neomycin Sulphate, prolonged or repeated
exposure may lead to
malabsorption syndrome with diarrhoea. Due to the presence of
Hydrocortisone, prolonged or
repeated exposure may lead to suppression of adrenal gland secretion,
Cushing’s Syndrome and
hyperglycaemia.

If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre,
phone 131126.
