Date of revision WHAT SCABICIDE LOTION IS USED FOR Scabicide Lotion is used for the treatment of scabies. Scabicide Lotion is for external use only. HOW SCABICIDE LOTION WORKS Scabicide Lotion contains crotamiton, which is an anti-scabies and anti-itch agent, is highly effective in removing scabies and relief of itchiness. BEFORE YOU USE SCABICIDE LOTION _- When you must not use it _ Do not use Scabicide Lotion if: you are allergic or hypersensitive to crotamiton or any of the ingredients contained in this product. you are having skin disease or skin inflammation. Consult your doctor or pharmacist. it is not prescribed by a qualified doctor or pharmacist to you. _ _ _- Before you start to use it _ Inform your doctor if: you are pregnant, trying to get pregnant or think you may be pregnant. you are breast-feeding. _ _ _- Taking other medicines _ Tell your doctor if you are taking any other medicines, including any that you buy without a prescription from a pharmacy, supermarket or health food shop. HOW TO USE SCABICIDE LOTION _- How much to use _ For treatment of scabies: Adults and children: Rub onto the skin of the whole body from the chin down, paying particular attention to all folds and creases. Scabicide Lotion can be used in children. PRODUCT LITERATURE SCABICIDE CREAM EACH 100 GM CONTAINS Crotamiton BP 10% w/w PRESERVATIVE Methyl Paraben BP 0.12% w/w SCABIDICE LOTION EACH 100 ML CONTAINS Crotamiton BP 10% w/v DESCRIPTION Cream: White soft odourless cream. Lotion: Clear colourless odourless lotion PHARMACODYNAMIC PROPERTIES; Pharmacotherapeutic group: other antipruritics and other ectoparasiticides, including scabicides. Crotamiton has a symptomatic action on pruritus and is an acaricide. As an acaricide agent, crotamiton is effective on the motor system of the mites by inducing irreversible cessation of spontaneous movements. PHARMACOKINETIC PROPERTIES: Crotamiton penetrates rapidly into human skin. Low but measurable concentrations of crotamiton are found in plasma, with a maximum level after 4-10 hours, declining rapidly thereafter. INDICATION Treatment of scabies. RECOMMENDED DOSAGE Scabies: ADULTS: Rub into the skin of the whole body from the chin down, paying particular attention to all folds and creases. A second application is advisable 24 hours later. Clothing and bed linen should be changed the next morning. A cleansing bath should be taken 48 hours after the last application. CHILDREN: In children under three years of age Scabicide should not be applied more than once a day. Pruritus: Apply to the affected area 2-3 times daily until medication is completely absorbed. Scabicide will provide relief from irritation for 6-10 hours after each application. SCABICIDE CAN BE USED IN CHILDREN. DIRECTIONS OF USAGE: After the patient has taken a warm bath, the skin should be well dried and Scabicide rubbed into the entire body surface (excluding the face and scalp) until no traces of the preparation remain visible on the surface. The application should be repeated once daily, preferably in the evening, for a total of 3-5 days. Depending on the response, special attention should be paid to sites that are particularly susceptible to infestation by the mites (eg interdigital spaces, wrists, axillae and genitalia).
