CONSUMPTION. FOLLOWING THE USE
OF THIS PRODUCT, TOXIC LEVELS OF PENTOBARBITONE WILL REMAIN IN
TISSUES.
DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION:
Horses and cattle:
50 mL per 200 kg body weight. The correct dose should be carefully
calculated on a
body weight basis and approximately half this dose administrated
rapidly intravenously to first achieve
anaesthetic relaxation and unconsciousness. The remainder of the dose
(effectively a gross overdose)
should follow immediately, after which the clinician should ensure ALL
clinical signs of life have been
extinguished.

HANDLING PRECAUTIONS:
This material may be dangerous if swallowed or absorbed through the
skin
May cause eye irritation.
Pentobarbitone sodium may possibly affect development and/or
reproduction.
May cause damage to several organs from repeated oral exposure.
Do not eat, drink or smoke while using.
Remove protective clothing and wash hands and face before meals and
after work.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Take care to avoid accidental self-injection.
Symptoms of poisoning include nausea, vomiting, central nervous system
depression and gastrointestinal tract
haemorrhage.
FIRST AID:
If swallowed do NOT induce vomiting. For advice, contact the National
Poisons Centre 0800 POISON (0800
764766) or a doctor immediately.
If skin or hair contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and flush
skin and hair with running water. If
splashed in eyes wash out immediately with water.
DISPOSAL:
Preferably dispose of product by use. Otherwise dispose of product,

DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION

The correct dose should be calculated carefully on a body weight
basis.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Speed of injection is extremely important.
Administer the full dose over 10-
15 seconds to minimise the likelihood of premature cardiac arrest. An
injection rate that is too slow
may induce normal collapse but prolong the period until death. Use of
an intravenous catheter is
strongly recommended.
After administration, the clinician should ensure ALL clinical signs
of life have been extinguished.
