Date of revision WHAT NW CALAMINE LOTION WITH 0.25% W/W MENTHOL IS USED FOR NW Calamine Lotion with 0.25% w/w Menthol is used to soothe and relieve nappy rashes, prickly heat, minor skin irritations, insect bites and sunburn, pruritic skin conditions. HOW NW CALAMINE LOTION WITH 0.25% W/W MENTHOL WORKS After application to the skin the NW Calamine Lotion with 0.25% w/w Menthol evaporates, which produces a cooling effect that helps distract you from the itch. This sensation also helps relieve sunburn. BEFORE YOU USE NW CALAMINE LOTION WITH 0.25% W/W MENTHOL - _When you must not use it _ If you or your child have an allergy to any of the ingredients - _ Before you start to use it _ For external use only. Use only as directed. Do not apply to large areas of the body or in large quantities, particularly over raw or blistered areas. If applied to fingers or toes do not bandage. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. - _Taking other medicines_ Ask your doctor if you are taking other medications. Zinc oxide has a mildly antiseptic action and is a mild astringent, it has soothing and protective properties. Menthol cream is a topical analgesic. It works by temporarily relieving minor pain. PHARMACOKINETICS No information available. INDICATION NW Calamine Lotion with 0.25% w/w Menthol is used to soothes and relieves nappy rashes, prickly heat, minor skin irritations, insect bites and sunburn, pruritic skin conditions. RECOMMENDED DOSAGE/MODE OF ADMINISTRATION Apply to the skin as required and allow to dry, 1 - 3 times daily. CONTRAINDICATION Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients. WARNING AND PRECAUTIONS Shake the bottle. For external used only. Keep out of reach of children. INTERACTION WITH OTHER MEDICAMENTS May mask x-ray pictures under certain circumstances. PREGNANCY AND LACTATION No evidence has been found as to the safety of the product when used during pregnancy and lactation. However, the product has been used for many years without any apparent ill effects. 2 ADVERSE EFFECT/UNDESIRABLE EFFECT Occasional hypersensitivity or irritant reactions. OVERDOSE AND TREATMENT Overdose is considered unlikely with this product. However, if large quantities have been ingested, vomiting, inflammation of mucous membranes of the mouth and stomach, weakness, mental confusion, cold sweats, depression of pulse and leg cramps may occur. Treatment of overdose is included: The patient should be kept warm, and pulmonary oedema, systemic acidosis, respiratory failure and circulatory failure should be treated symptomatically.
