WHAT CP COUGH SYRUP IS USED FOR
CP
Cough
Syrup
is
used
for
symptomatic treatment of troublesome,
nonproductive
cough,
particularly
occurring at night.
HOW CP COUGH SYRUP WORKS
Promethazine
is
a
sedating
antihistamine.
It
also
acts
as
an
antihistamine. It blocks the effects of
the
naturally
occurring
chemical
histamine in the body. It provides a
drying
effect
on
the
nasal
and
oral
mucosa. It is commonly used in the
preparation for symptomatic treatment
of coughs and the common cold.
Carbocisteine
is
used
to
dissolve
or
breakdown
mucus
in
respiratory
disorders
associated
with
productive
cough.
BEFORE YOU USE CP COUGH SYRUP

Do not take this medicine if you are
sensitive
to
promethazine
HCl,
carbocisteine
or
to
any
other
phenothiazine medications.
Tell your doctor if you have any of the
following medical conditions:

Gastroduodenal ulcer

Bladder neck obstruction (bladder
neck does not open appropriately
or completely during voiding)

Enlargement of prostate

Urinary retention

Bone marrow depression

Cardiovascular
disease
(diseases
that
involve
heart
and
blood
vessels)

Coma

Glaucoma
(a
group
of
eye
conditions that can cause blindness)

Jaundice

Reye’s syndrome (swelling in the
liver and brain)

Chronic
bronchitis
(inflammation
of the airways that carry air to your
lungs)

Productive cough

Emphysema
(damage
to
the
air
sacs (alveoli) in the lungs)

Diabetes

Liver function impairment

Respiratory
depression
(breathing
insufficiency)
