For the use only of a Registered Medical Practitioner or a Hospital or a Laboratory only. CIPRODAC 500 TABLET COMPOSITION: Each film-coated tablet contains: Ciprofloxacin Hydrochloride USP equivalent to Ciprofloxacin 500 mg White-coloured, special capsule-shaped, smooth film-coated tablet, plain on both sides. ACTIONS AND PHARMACOLOGY: Ciprofloxacin is a synthetic broad spectrum fluoroquinolone antibacterial agent which is active against a wide range of gram-positive and gram negative organisms. Its bactericidal activity is a result of the inhibition of the A-subunit of the enzyme DNAgyrase. DNA-gyrase is a type II topoisomerase essential for ATP- dependent coiling and supercoiling of bacterial DNA, a process which enables it to be replicated and repacked in both daughter cells. Ciprofloxacin inhibits relaxation of supercoiled DNA and promotes double-stranded DNA breakage.
