1. WHAT SYNERRV ATORVASTATIN IS USED
FOR
Synerrv Atorvastatin is used to lower
lipids known as cholesterol and
triglycerides in the blood when a low fat
diet and life style changes on their own
have failed. If you are at an increased
risk of heart disease, Synerrv
Atorvastatin can also be used to reduce
such risk even if your cholesterol levels
are normal. You should maintain a
standard cholesterol lowering diet during
treatment.
2.HOW SYNERRV ATORVASTATIN WORKS
Synerrv Atorvastatin works by reducing
the amount of cholesterol made by the
liver. In terms of good and bad
cholesterol, Synerrv Atorvastatin reduces
the bad cholesterol and raises the good
cholesterol.
3. BEFORE YOU USE SYNERRV ATORVASTATIN
_When you must not use it _
Do not take Synerrv Atorvastatin

if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to
Synerrv Atorvastatin or to any similar
medicines used to lower blood lipids or
to any of the other ingredients of the

ever
had
a
disease which affects the liver

you
have
had
any
unexplained
abnormal blood tests for liver function
•
if
you
are
a
woman
able
to
have
children
and
not
using
reliable
contraception
•
if
you
are
pregnant
or
trying

if you are breast-feeding.

another medicine which may cause liver
damage

CoA-reductase inhibitors, ATC code: C10AA05
Atorvastatin is a selective, competitive inhibitor of HMG-CoA
reductase,
the
rate-limiting
enzyme
responsible
for
the
conversion
of
3-hydroxy-3-methyl-glutaryl-coenzyme
A
to
mevalonate,
a
precursor
of
sterols,
including
cholesterol.
Triglycerides and cholesterol in the liver are incorporated into
very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL) and released into the
plasma
for
delivery
to
peripheral
tissues.
Low-density
lipoprotein (LDL) is formed from VLDL and is catabolized
primarily through the receptor with high affinity to LDL (LDL
receptor).
Atorvastatin lowers plasma cholesterol and lipoprotein serum
concentrations
by
inhibiting
HMG-CoA
reductase
and
