1.  WHAT QUETIAPINE IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR 
•

Quetiapine  belongs  to  a  group  of  medicines  called  antipsychotics,  which  help  to  control  the 
symptoms  of  a  mental  illness  called  schizophrenia.  The  symptoms  include  delusions  (having 
strange  or  unusual  thoughts),  hallucinations  (seeing  or  hearing  things  that  are  not  there), 
experiencing unusual behaviour, which can be aggressive and becoming withdrawn and subdued.

SUMMARY OF PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS 

1. NAME OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT 

Quetiapine 25, 100, 150, 200, 300 mg Film-coated Tablets 

2. QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION 

Each film-coated tablet contains 25, 100, 150, 200, 300 mg quetiapine (as quetiapine fumarate). 
Excipients: 
25 mg:  Each film-coated tablet contains 14 mg of lactose and 0.031 mg of sunset yellow FCF 
aluminium lake (E110). 
100 mg: Each film-coated tablet contains 57 mg of lactose and 0.124 mg of sunset yellow FCF 
aluminium lake (E110). 
150 mg: Each film-coated tablet contains 86 mg of lactose.  
200 mg: Each film-coated tablet contains 108 mg of lactose.  
300 mg: Each film-coated tablet contains 170 mg of lactose.

3. PHARMACEUTICAL FORM 
Film-coated tablet. 
25 mg:  Light-orange, round, biconvex, film-coated tablet, engraved “25” on one side and plain on the 
other  
100 mg: Light-orange, round, biconvex, film-coated tablet, engraved “100” on one side and plain on 
the other  
150 mg: Pale yellow, round, biconvex, film-coated tablet, engraved “150” on one side and plain on the 
other  
200 mg: White to off-white, round, biconvex, film-coated tablet, engraved “200” on one side and plain 
on the other  
300 mg: Pale yellow, capsule-shaped, biconvex, film-coated tablet, engraved “300” on one side and 
plain on the other  

4. CLINICAL PARTICULARS

THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS 
Treatment of schizophrenia. 
Treatment of moderate to severe manic episode. Quetiapine has not been demonstrated to prevent 
recurrence of manic or depressive episodes (see section 5.1).
