ELOCTATE is used to:

control and prevent bleeding
episodes


frequency of bleeding episodes

reduce bleeding before, during,

AUSTRALIAN PRODUCT INFORMATION – ELOCTATE
(EFMOROCTOCOG ALFA) (RHU) POWDER AND SOLVENT FOR
SOLUTION FOR INJECTION
1
NAME OF THE MEDICINE
Efmoroctocog alfa
2
QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION
Each single-use vial contains nominally 250, 500, 750, 1000, 1500,
2000, or 3000 International
Units (IU) of efmoroctocog alfa.
Each pre-filled syringe contains 3 mL of solvent.
Efmoroctocog alfa is produced by recombinant DNA technology in a human
embryonic kidney
(HEK) cell line, which has been extensively characterised. The HEK
cell line expresses
efmoroctocog alfa into a defined cell culture medium that does not
contain any proteins derived
from animal or human sources. The purification process utilises a
series of chromatography and
multiple viral clearance steps. The viral clearance steps include
affinity chromatography, 15nm
virus-retaining nano-filtration step, and detergent viral
inactivation. No human or animal derived
additives are used in the purification and formulation processes.
For the full list of excipients, see Section 6.1
LIST OF EXCIPIENTS.
