How Dyna Charcoal Tablet works Dyna Charcoal Tablet works as - Adsorbent - Adsorbs toxic substances ingested, thus inhibit gastrointestinal absorption. - Antidiarrhoea - Adsorbs many toxic irritants that cause diarrhoea and gastrointestinal discomfort. - Antiflatulence - Adsorbs intestinal gas to relieve distension and discomfort. Before you use Dyna Charcoal Tablet - When you must not use it Do not use Dyna Charcoal Tablet for the treatment of diarrhoea in children under 6 years of age. Pregnancy and lactation No problems have not been documented. Ask your doctor or pharmacists for advice before taking Dyna Charcoal Tablet. - Before you start to use it Tell your doctor if you have any of the conditions: - Signs of dehydration such as dry mouth, excessive thirst, wrinkled skin, decreased urination, dizziness or light- headedness, are present especially in young children and the elderly. - Suspected parasite-associated diarrhoea. - Acute diarrhea with blood - Taking other medicines Tell your doctor if you are taking any other medicines, including any that you buy without a prescription from a pharmacy, supermarket or health food shop. It is not advisable during the use of specific oral antidotes such as Methionine and interfere with absorption of other medicines and antibiotics. It also diminished the action of Ipecacuanha and other medicines used for nausea and vomiting when taken concomitantly by mouth. DYNA CHARCOAL TABLET MAL20032175XZ DESCRIPTION: TABLET Colour : Black Shape : Round and Biconvex Coating : Colourless Coating EACH TABLET CONTAINS: Activated Charcoal .............................. 250 mg PHARMACODYNAMICS: Adsorbent - Adsorbs the toxic substances ingested, thus inhibiting gastrointestinal absorption. Antidiarrhoea - Adsorbs many toxic irritants that cause diarrhoea and gastrointestinal discomfort. Antiflatulence - Adsorbs intestinal gas to relieve distension and discomfort. PHARMACOKINETICS: Absorption: Is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Biotransformation: Is not metabolised. Elimination: Through the intestinal tract. INDICATIONS: Treatment of flatulence and diarrhoea. RECOMMENDED DOSE: Adults : 2 – 4 tablets three to four times daily. Children above 12 years : 1 – 2 tablets three to four times daily. Drink plenty of fluid and maintain adequate salt intake. ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION: FOR ORAL USE ONLY CONTRAINDICATIONS: Dehydration – Rehydration therapy is necessary if signs of dehydration, such as dry mouth, excessive thirst, wrinkled skin, decreased urination, dizziness or light-headedness, are present; fluid loss may have serious consequences, such circulatory collapse and renal failure, especially in young children and the elderly. Suspected parasite-associated diarrhoea – May make recognition of parasitic causes of diarrhoea more difficult; if parasitic agents are suspected pathogens, appropriate stool analysis should be performed prior to therapy with adsorbents. Acute dysentery – sole treatment with adsorbent antidiarrhoeals may be inadequate; antibiotic therapy may be required. Also contraindicated during the use of specific oral antidotes such as Methionine. WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS: Not recommended for treatment of diarrhoea in children under 6 years of age. Elderly with diarrhoea: caution is recommended because of the risk of fluid and electrolyte loss.
