The ABBOTT PRISM® HIV Ag/Ab Combo is an in vitro chemiluminescent immunoassay (ChLIA) for the simultaneous qualitative detection of HIV p24 antigen and/or antibodies to human immunodeficiency virus type 1 and/or type 2 (HIV-1/HIV-2) in human serum or plasma. The ABBOTT PRISM HIV Ag/Ab Combo assay is intended to be used as a screening test for donated blood and plasma to prevent transmission of HIV-1/HIV-2 to recipients of blood and blood components, and as an aid in the diagnosis of HIV-1/HIV-2 infection. The ABBOTT PRISM HIV Ag/Ab Combo assay does not discriminate between HIV p24 antigen, HIV-1 antibody, or HIV-2 antibody reactivity.
