E S T R A D I O L H É M I H Y D R AT É G E L COMPOSITION : Estradiol 0,1 g (Estradiol hémihydraté 0,10325 g) - Estrogène naturel. Excipients (éthanol, eau purifiée, propylène glycol, éther monoéthylique du diéthylène glycol, carboxypolyméthylène, trolamine, édétate de sodium) q.s.p. 100 g. Teneur en éthanol: 45 g /100 g FORME ET PRESENTATION : Gel transdermique en flacon de 50 g avec pompe doseuse. Chaque pression de la pompe délivre 0,5 g de gel correspondant à 0,5 mg d'estradiol. INDICATIONS THERAPEUTIQUES : Correction de la carence estrogénique de la femme en ménopause naturelle ou chirurgicale: troubles vasomoteurs (bouffées de chaleur), troubles trophiques génito-urinaires, troubles psychiques. CONTRE-INDICATIONS : Ce médicament ne doit pas être utilisé dans certaines situations que votre médecin doit apprécier: - Antécédent de troubles gynécologiques ou mammaires, toute maladie thromboembolique (phlébite,...) ou cardiovasculaire en cours. - Grossesse MISES EN GARDE SPECIALES : Un traitement progestatif sera généralement associé de façon séquentielle à votre traitement par l'estradiol. PRECAUTIONS D'EMPLOI : Utiliser ce médicament AVEC PRÉCAUTION en cas de : épilepsie, asthme, antécédents familiaux de cancer du sein, troubles des fonctions hépatiques, hypertension artérielle sévère. Une surveillance attentive doit être exercée. Un examen médical est nécessaire avant et périodiquement en cours de traitement. INTERACTIONS MEDICAMENTEUSES ET AUTRES INTERACTIONS : AFIN D'ÉVITER D’ÉVENTUELLES INTERACTIONS ENTRE PLUSIEURS MÉDICAMENTS, IL FAUT SIGNALER SYSTÉMATIQUEMENT TOUT AUTRE TRAITEMENT EN COURS À VOTRE MÉDECIN OU À VOTRE PHARMACIEN, en particulier la prise de barbituriques, hydantoïnes, carbamazépine, méprobamate, phénylbutazone ou rifampicine qui peuvent altérer l’action des estrogènes. Page 1 of 15 SUMMARY OF PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS 1. NAME ESTREVA ® 0.1% gel 2. QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION 1 g of gel contains 1.0325 mg of estradiol hemihydrate, corresponding to 1.0000 mg of anhydrous estradiol. Each dose delivers 0.5 g of gel, ie 0.5 mg of estradiol (as 0.516 mg of estradiol hemihydrate). For excipients, see section 6.1 3. PHARMACEUTICAL FORM Gel Translucent and odourless gel 4. CLINICAL PARTICULARS 4.1 Therapeutic indications Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for oestrogen deficiency symptoms in postmenopausal women. The experience treating women older than 65 years is limited. 4.2 Posology and method of administration ESTREVA® 0.1% gel is presented in tube-bottles with dosing pumps. Each push delivers 0.5 g of gel, i.e. 0.5 mg of estradiol. The average dose is 1.5 g of gel per day, i.e. 3 consecutive doses, for 24 to 28 days. The dosage can be adapted to particular needs, or any residual oestrogen production and individual pharmacokinetic characteristics. The individual dose can range from 0.5 to 3 g of gel per day. For initiation and continuation of treatment of postmenopausal symptoms, the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration (see also section 4.4) should be used. In women with an intact uterus the addition of a progestagen for at least 12 to 14 days per cycle is essential to help prevent any endometrial hyperplasia induced by the oestrogen. For more detailed information, please refer to section “Special warnings and precautions for use” - Endometrial hyperplasia). Unless there is a previous diagnosis of endometriosis, the addition of a progestagen in hysterectomised women is not recommended. Two therapeutic regimens can be used: 1) Cyclic for 24 to 28 days, followed by a 2 to 7 days treatment free period. The progestogen should be administered at least during the last 12 days of the estradiol treatment in non hysterectomised women.
