CHARACTERISTICS
5% DEXTROSE IN 0.3% SODIUM CHLORIDE is a
light hypertonic solution containing 56 mmol
each of sodium and chloride per litre and sup-
plies physiologically free water.
INDICATIONS
Dehydration
Light sodium and chloride depletion
Hypochloremic alkalosis
Vehicle solution for supplementary medication
DOSAGE
Average dose: 1000 mL/day
Drop rate:
120-180 drops/min corresponding
to 360-540 mL/h or as directed by
the physician
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hyperhydration, oedema
Hypernatremia, hypertension
Hypotonic dehydration
Acidotic situations
Diabetes mellitus
ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION I.V.
