WHAT PONTALON TABLET IS USED FOR
PONTALON
TABLET
is
used
for
the
symptomatic relief of degenerative arthralgia
and for the relief of mild to moderate pain,
including muscular, traumatic and dental pain,
headache, postoperative and post-partum pain
and dysmenorrhea.
HOW PONTALON TABLET WORKS
Mefenamic acid inhibits the cyclo-oxygenase
enzyme and thus exerts its anti-inflammatory
activity
by
inhibition
of
prostaglandin
synthesis. It also has antipyretic and analgesic
properties acting by both central and peripheral
mechanism.
BEFORE YOU USE PONTALON TABLET
WHEN YOU MUST NOT TAKE IT
Do
not
take
PONTALON
TABLET
if
you
have known hypersensitivity to PONTALON
TABLET or have shown hypersensitivity to
any component of this product. It should not
be taken by people with inflammatory bowel
disease, peptic ulcer, renal impairment, or has
hypersensitivity to aspirin or other NSAIDs
BEFORE YOU START TO TAKE IT
Tell
your
doctor
or
pharmacist
if
you
are
allergic to any medicines or if you have any
other medical conditions.
TAKING OTHER MEDICINES
Tell
your
doctor
or
pharmacist
if
you
are
taking any other medications. Mefenamic acid
can interact with warfarin and aspirin.
You
must also inform them about all the medicines
you
are
taking,
including
those
without
a
prescription.
HOW TO TAKE PONTALON TABLET
HOW MUCH TO TAKE
For
mild
to
moderate
pain:
500mg
three
times
daily
in
adult
and
adolescents over 14 years old.
For dysmenorrhea, 500mg as initial
dose followed by 250mg 6 hourly.
