Diligan ® Tablet Prescribing information Composition and Presentation: Each tablet of Diligan contains Meclizine Dihydrochloride - 12.5mg Nicotinic acid - 50mg Box of 5 X 10 X10 tablets It is indicated in the symptomatic management of ve rtigo that could be due to labyrinthine disorder or disorders like Meneire's d isease. The combination of Meclizine with nicotinic acid pr ovides not only for the symptomatic management of vertigo by Meclizine but also helps to improve the micro-circulation in the labyrinthine system due to the presence of nicotinic acid. Since the strength of nicotinic acid is only 50mg i t provides the necessary therapeutic action with minimal side effects (flushing etc). Meclizine: Meclizine hydrochloride, a piperazine derivative, i s an antihistamine with anti- muscarinic properties. It belongs to the first gene ration of anti-histamines and has a marked effect in blocking the vasodepressor respons e to histamine. It is mainly used for its antiemetic action that may last for upto 24 hours. Pharmacology : Meclizine is readily absorbed from the gastro-intes tinal tract. Following oral administration, the clinical effects usually develo p within 15-30 minutes. Peak blood levels are reached after approximately 2 hours. Its plasma half-life is between 12 and 20 hours in adults and approximately 7 hours in chi ldren. Elimination occurs mainly through the kidneys.
