Date of Revision WHAT BEAGENTA IS USED FOR Beagenta is used to treat bacterial infection of the eyes and ears. Your doctor may have prescribed Beagenta for another reason. Ask your doctor if you have any questions about why Beagenta has been prescribed for you. HOW BEAGENTA WORKS Beagenta contains the active ingredient called as gentamicin. Gentamicin is an antibiotic which helps to clear up infections. BEFORE YOU USE BEAGENTA - _When you must not take it _ You must not use Beagenta if you have allergic reactions to Gentamicin, aminoglycosides or to any of the ingredients listed at the end of this leaflet. Do not use this medicine if you have perforated eardrum. Do not use Beagenta after the expiry date printed on the pack. If you use this medicine after the expiry date has passed, it may not work as well. Do not use Beagenta if the packaging is torn or shows signs of tampering. - _Before you start to use it _ Tell your doctor if you have any allergies to any other medicines, foods or preservatives. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. The safety use of Beagenta during pregnancy and breast-feeding has not been demonstrated. No relevant information is available for use in children. - _Taking other medicines _ Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including any that you get without a prescription from your pharmacy, supermarket or health food shop. Your doctor and pharmacist have more information on medicines to be careful with or avoid while using this medicine. Route of administration: Eye and Ear 5ml x 12 bottles Revision date: 19 September 2023 150000 _Product Registration Holder & Manufacturer:_ Use of topical gentamicin preparations in closed hospital settings is actively discouraged. Beagenta eye/ear drops are contraindicated in patients with a i) perforated eardrum, ii) sensitivity to aminoglycosides or iii) hypersensitivity to any of it's components. • Hypersensitivity reactions have been reported following application of Beagenta Eye/Ear Drops. Less frequently stinging or burning of the eye/ear may occur. • Do not wear contact lenses during and for a period following application of medicine. • Cross allergenicity among aminoglycosides may occur. • No relevant information is available for use in children, pregnancy and lactation. • Discontinue use if no improvement is evident after 5 days or if irritation or hypersensitivity develops. • Give rise to overgrowth of non-susceptible microorganisms.
