WHAT AXOL LIQUID IS USED FOR
AXOL LIQUID is a medicine used in the
treatment
of
respiratory
disorders
associated with viscid mucus.
HOW AXOL LIQUID WORKS
AXOL
LIQUID
contains
ambroxol,
which helps to dissolve thick mucus and
improve
the
condition
of
difficulty
in
expectoration, coughing and difficulty in
breathing.

HOW TO USE AXOL LIQUID_ _

_How much to use _
Adult and children over 10 years old:
10ml (2 teaspoons).
Children, 5-10 years old: 5ml (1
teaspoon).
2-5 years old: 2.5ml (1/2 teaspoon).
Under 2 years old: 2.5ml (1/2
teaspoon).

_When to use it _
Take AXOL LIQUID 2 to 3 times a day
or
as
directed
by
your
doctor
or
pharmacist. It can be taken
with or
without food.

_How long to use it _
AXOL
LIQUID
should
be
taken
as
your doctor advised you to do so.

_If you forget to use it _
If you miss a dose of AXOL LIQUID,
take
it
as
soon
as
possible.
If
it
is
approaching time for the next dose, do
not double the dose to make up for the
forgotten dose.

AXOL
LIQUID
Ambroxol, a metabolite of Bromhexine, is a mucolytic agent. It is
capable of increasing
sputum volume and reducing its viscosity, improving breathing and
reducing cough with
no influence on gastric acid secretion.

PHARMACODYNAMICS:
Ambroxol
is
a
mucus-modifying
drug;
it
enhances
both
bronchial
glandular
cell
secretions and the production of alveolar type II pneumocyte
surfactant. It is also
stimulates ciliary motility and accelerates mucociliary transport.

Axol is a " mucus-modifier ", the active compound of which is
Ambroxol. Several
human studies showed that Ambroxol affects the secretomotor activity
of serous
glands, facilitates the repair of bronchial epithelium and accelerates
mucociliary
transport and clearance.

Ambroxol,
a
metabolite
of
bromhexine
has
been
found
to
stimulate
the
synthesis
of
lung
surfactant,
an
agent
that
may
play
a
role
in
airway
mucus transport acting as a lubricant.

In
several
studies,
Ambroxol
also
produced
statistically
significant
symptomatic
improvement,
measured
as
difficulty
in
expectoration,
coughing,
presence
of
dyspnea
and
the
auscultatory
sign
as
compared
to
controls.
PHARMACOKINETICS:
Absorption after oral administration of Ambroxol was found to be fast
and complete.
Elimination half-life in the blood was estimated as 20-25 hrs in man.
In man and rabbit,
the radio-active labeled substance was excreted almost completely into
the urine.
INDICATION(S):
Mucolytic agent used in the treatment of respiratory disorders
associated with viscid
mucus.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Adults and children over 10 years old : 10ml 3 times daily.
