MIXING: Pour the product directly into water in the spray tank and mix
well. Beware of
solvent vapours while handling the concentrate and working near an
open spray tank.
RESISTANCE
WARNING:
GROUP 4 FUNGICIDE
ZEEMIL 250 EC is a member of the Phenylamide group of fungicides. For
fungicide
resistance management ZEEMIL 250 EC is a Group 4 fungicide.
Some naturally occurring individual fungi resistant to ZEEMIL 250 EC
and other Group
4 fungicides may exist through normal genetic variability in any
fungal population. The
resistant individuals can eventually dominate the fungi population if
these fungicides are
used repeatedly. These resistant fungi will not be controlled by
ZEEMIL 250 EC and other
Group 4 fungicides, thus resulting in a reduction in efficacy and
possible yield loss.
Since the occurrence of resistant fungi is difficult to detect prior
to use, UPL Australia
Limited accepts no liability for any losses that may result from the
failure of ZEEMIL 250 EC
to control resistant fungi.

MAJOR HEALTH HAZARDS:
The oral LD
50
of Metalaxyl in rats is 669 mg/kg and the dermal LD
50
is greater than 3100
mg/kg, indicating slight toxicity by ingestion and dermal application.
Rabbits exhibited slight eye and skin irritation, but
guinea pigs displayed no sensitization after Metalaxyl exposure. No
information was available regarding the inhalation
toxicity of Metalaxyl. No significant risk factors have been found for
this product.
POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS

High volume application
2 L in 2000 to 5000 L per
hectare
Spray immediately after planting and repeat at 4 to 8 week intervals
during summer, autumn and winter. Use the
shorter interval during periods of wet weather, or in areas with past
histories of the disease.
Thoroughly spray pineapple foliage and surrounding soil. For the first
treatment hand drenching is preferred to
spraying. Use 2000 L per ha for young plants, increasing up to 5000 L
per ha for large plants.
ZEEMIL 250 EC should be applied in alternate years only. In
intervening years use other recommended fungicides.
