WHAT SYNTHAMIN AND GLUCOSE INTRAVENOUS INFUSION IS USED FOR.
Synthamin Intravenous Infusion is a mixture of 15 amino acids and
Glucose in solution.
Amino acids are the building blocks for proteins. Glucose is a source
of energy. Proteins are essential for
maintaining the body’s normal functions. Glucose is used to provide
energy for the body to help it use
the amino acids to make proteins.
Synthamin and Glucose Intravenous Infusion is used to provide a source
of amino acids and energy
where:

The patient cannot take food by mouth. This may be because they have
had surgery to remove
their stomach or some other part of their digestive tract, or because
they have an illness that
prevents them from taking food by mouth.

There is a problem with amino acids or proteins being absorbed from
the patients digestive tract

The patient has a condition where they are using greater than normal
amounts of nutrients
including proteins. This would occur for example in patients with
severe burns.
Your doctor may have prescribed Synthamin and Glucose Intravenous
Infusion for another reason. Ask
your doctor if you have any questions about why this medicine has been
prescribed for you.
BEFORE YOU ARE GIVEN SYNTHAMIN AND GLUCOSE INTRAVENOUS INFUSION
