RSPCA Monthly Heartworm Tablets for Large Dogs prevent heartworm disease in dogs by eliminating the tissue stage of heartworm larvae (Dirofilaria immitis) that infected the dog in the month (30 days) before treatment. NET CONTENTS: 6 tablets DIRECTIONS FOR USE: The proper dose should be given at monthly intervals during the period of the year when mosquitoes potentially carrying infective larvae are active. The initial dose must be given within one month of the first exposure to mosquitoes. However, RSPCA Monthly Heartworm Tablets for Large Dogs also control heartworm infection when treatment is initiated up to four months after exposure to infected mosquitoes, provided monthly treatment is continued for at least 12 months. The final dose must be given within one month after the last exposure to mosquitoes. When replacing another heartworm disease preventive product in a heartworm disease preventive programme, the first dose of RSPCA Monthly Heartworm Tablets for Large Dogs must be given within a month after the last dose of the former medication.
