WHAT N-BAC IS USED FOR
It is used for the treatment of skin infections
likely due to microorganisms e.g.
staphylococci and those sensitive to
antibiotic neomycin.
HOW N-BAC WORKS
Neomycin is an antibiotic, which is active
against many types of Gram -ve bacteria,
although not against some bacterias like
Pseudomonas sp., and it is also active
against many types of bacteria
Staphylococcus aureus.
BEFORE YOU USE N-BAC

_When you must not use it _
If allergic to neomycin sulphate or other
ingredients of N-bac.
_- Before you start to use it _
The local application of neomycin on
skin with extensive damage or rupture of
the eardrum may result in deafness.
Prolonged local use should be avoided as
it may lead to skin sensitivity. Resistance
of neomycin may also result in resistance
in other antibiotics like kanamycin,
framycetin and gentamicin has been
reported.

The medicine is for local application
and will usually have minimal effect on
other medication.
However, please inform the doctor or
pharmacist if taking other medicines.

_How much to use_
Apply sparingly to affected skin 2 – 3
times daily.

Always use N-bac exactly as your doctor
has instructed you. You should check
with your doctor or pharmacist if you are
unsure.

_If you forget to use it _
Apply as soon as you remember.
_- If you use too much (overdose) _
If use too much N-bac, contact your doctor,
an emergency department or a poison
center immediately.
Ear and kidney damage may occur if
neomycin is absorbed in large amounts.

Once neomycin is absorbed, it is rapidly and completely excreted in
the urine in its active form.
