Betamethasone valerate is a potent topical corticosteroid indicated for adults, elderly and children over 1 year for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of steroid responsive dermatoses.

THE ACTIVE INGREDIENT AND ITS CONCENTRATION:
Betamethasone (as 17-valerate) 0.1%
Inactive ingredients: see section 6 “Further Information”.

This leaflet contains concise information about the medicine. If you
have
further questions, refer to the doctor or pharmacist.
This medicine has been prescribed for you. Do not pass it on to
others.
It may harm them, even if it seems to you that their medical condition
is similar.
1. WHAT IS THE MEDICINE INTENDED FOR?
Betacorten is used to reduce inflammation and itchiness in certain
skin problems, such as eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis in adults and
children over 1 year of age.
THERAPEUTIC GROUP: potent corticosteroids.
2. BEFORE USING THE MEDICINE DO NOT USE THE MEDICINE:
∙ if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to betamethasone valerate or
to any of the other ingredients contained in Betacorten (listed in
section 6).
∙ in children under 1 year of age.
∙ on mucosal tissues (anus, genitals, around the mouth/nose).
∙ in treatment of any of the following skin problems, since the
medicine may cause them to worsen:
- acne
- severe flushing of skin on and around the nose (rosacea)
- spotty red rash around the mouth.
- skin infections from a viral (e.g., shingles/herpes, chickenpox),
bacterial (e.g., tuberculosis of the skin) and fungal source (unless
the infection is being treated with an anti-infective medicine at
the same time)
- itchy skin due to an infection.
Do not use if any of the above apply to you. If you are not sure, talk
to your doctor or pharmacist before using Betacorten.
SPECIAL WARNINGS REGARDING USE OF THE MEDICINE
∙ TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST BEFORE USING THE MEDICINE IF:
- you have previously had an allergic reaction to another steroid.
- you are suffering, or have suffered in the past, fro
