The medicine can be sold by physician’s prescription only
LICARBIUM
300 MG, TABLETS
Each tablet contains: Lithium Carbonate 300 mg (=0.056 g Lithium)
Inactive and allergenic ingredients in the medicine - see section 6
“Additional information” and in section 2 “Important information
about some of the ingredients of this medicine”.
READ THE ENTIRE LEAFLET CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THIS MEDICINE. This
leaflet contains concise information about the medicine. If you
have further questions, refer to the doctor or pharmacist.
This medicine has been prescribed to treat your illness. Do not pass
it on to others. It may harm them even if it seems to you that their
medical condition is similar.
THIS MEDICINE IS NOT INTENDED FOR INFANTS AND CHILDREN YOUNGER THAN 12
YEARS OF AGE.
LITHIUM TOXICITY IS CLOSELY RELATED TO SERUM CONCENTRATIONS OF LITHIUM
AND MAY OCCUR IN DOSES CLOSE TO THERAPEUTIC
CONCENTRATIONS. BEFORE STARTING TREATMENT VERIFY THAT EQUIPMENT IS ON
HAND FOR QUICK AND ACCURATE MONITORING OF SERUM
CONCENTRATIONS OF LITHIUM.
1. WHAT IS THE MEDICINE INTENDED FOR?
For treatment of episodes of manic depression.
THERAPEUTIC GROUP: Mood-stabilizing agents.
2. BEFORE USING THE MEDICINE
DO NOT USE THE MEDICINE IF:
• You are hypersensitive (allergic) to the active ingredient
(Lithium Carbonate) or Lithium Citrate or to any of the other
ingredients
this medicine contains (see section 6 “Additional information”).
SPECIAL WARNINGS REGARDING THE USE OF THE MEDICINE
BEFORE TREATMENT WITH LICARBIUM, TELL YOUR DOCTOR IF:
• You have kidney problems.
• You have heart problems.
• You have breathing problems.
• You have thyroid gland problems.
• You are pregnant or plan to become pregnant (-see additional
information in section 2 “Pregnancy and breastfeeding”).
• You are breastfeeding or are planning to breastfeed (-see
additional information in section 2 “Pregnancy and
breastfeeding”).
