WHAT ANTILERG-F IS USED FOR
Antilerg-F
is
used
for
treatment
of
inflammation and irritation in the eyes
where
there
is
risk
for
bacterial
infections to occur.
Your
doctor
may
have
prescribed
Antilerg-F for another reason. Ask your
doctor if you have any questions about
why Antilerg-F has been prescribed for
you.
HOW ANTILERG-F WORKS
Antilerg-F
contains
the
active
ingredients,
neomycin
and
dexamethasone phosphate.
Neomycin is an antibiotic which helps
to treat bacterial infections.
Dexamethasone
is
a
corticosteroid
which helps to relieve inflammation and
redness in the eyes.

_When you must not use it_
Do not use this medicine if:
• you
are
allergic
to
neomycin,
dexamethasone
or
any
other
ingredients of this medicine (listed in
Product Description). Stop using if
allergic reaction occurs.
• you have viral or fungal infection of
the eye

_Before you start to use it _
You must tell your doctor or pharmacist
if you have:
• high pressure inside the eye
• recently underwent cataract surgery
• have diseases that causes thinning of
the eyeball layers.

• Please

pregnant,
planning
for
pregnancy

breast-
feeding before using any medicine.

2. COMPOSITION: Active ingredients:
Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate 1.098mg/ml
equivelant to Dexamethasone Phosphate 1.000mg/ml
Neomycin Sulphate 5.000mg/ml
equivelant to Neomycin base 3.500mg/ml
3. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Antilerg F is a clear, colourless to pale
yellow solution.

PHARMACODYNAMIC
PROPERTIES:
Dexamethasone
is
a
corticosteroid,
which
suppresses
the
inflammatory response to a variety of agents and probably delays or
slows healing.
Since corticosteroids may inhibit the body’s defence mechanism
against infection, a concomitant
antimicrobial drug may be used.
Neomycin sulphate, the anti-infective component of ANTILERG-F, is
included to provide action against
specific microorganism susceptible to it. Neomycin Sulphate, the
particular anti-infective drug in
ANTILERG-F, is active against the following common bacterial eye
pathogens: _Staphylococcus aureus_,_ _
_Escherichia _
_coli_,
_Haemophilus _
_influenzae_,_ _
_Klebsiella/Enterobacter _
species,_ _
_Neisseria_
species.
ANTILERG-F
does
not
provide
adequate
coverage
against
_Pseudomonas _
_aeruginosa_,
_Serratia _
_marcenes_ and Streptococci, including _Streptococcus pneumonicae_.
When a decision to administer both a corticosteroid and an
antimicrobial is made, the administration of
such drugs in combination has the advantage of greater patient
compliance and convenience, with the
added assurance that the appropriate dosage of both drugs is
administered, plus assured compatibility
of ingredients when both types of drug are in the same formulation and
particularly that the correct
volume of drug is delivered and retained.
The relative potency of corticosteroids depends on the molecular
structure, concentration and release
from the vehicle.
PHARMACOKINETIC PROPERTIES: a. General Characteristics: Dexamethasone
is absorbed during topical
use, but its absorption is important only in high doses and prolonged
use. Neomycin can be absorbed
during topical use only if
